So a symtom of hyperthyroidism is Light or absent menstrual periods. I'll bet Rafa isn't having any. :tears: He's pregnant?

Linda's and Snoo's pictures do make a good case, I have to say.

Here's the match game at Natl Geo. http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/your-shot/match-game My score for today's batch was 19 turns in 1 min 9 seconds. I think one of you young whippersnappers could do better. I used to love the jigsaw puzzle there, but now I love the match game. The weird thing is that my first score is always the best. The more I play the worse I do.

it gets harder each time cuz the 2d time your brain is still remembering where the thingies were the first time, then the 3d time you are remembering where they were the 1st and 2d time, so by the nth time you're all bollixed up. if they were different pictures each time it wouldn't be happening.

also i forgot my score already

Rafa, this sucks big time.

Did I ever one million times mention how I hate Joe Mantegna in Criminal Minds instead of Patinkin/Gibson?
They've replaced Patinkin? :bounce: I dislike Patinkin with a passion.

I'm not sure whether replacing him with Joe Mantegna was a good move, though.

I took allergy pills last night. I'm blaming them on my weird dream-filled night full of naked people and rock stars.
I was/am still drousy from those damn pills so I nearly missed my train stop and after getting a cup of coffee and putting it down to get some milk while stopping for a chat with a colleague, I forgot where I put the damn coffee cup to start with. Took me a about a minute to figure out where I'd left it.
Why can't they make allergy pills without the side effects. I mean, they managed to do it with one of my pills (which is good because it used to be the sort of pill they also use before operations to get people in some sort of zombie state) so why not for the other ones?

We're still in season 2 here.

Patinkin pretty much ruined Chicago Hope for me. I just stopped watching it. One of the reasons why I don't like him is the way he speaks, sort of whispering, trying to come across as this sage or something like it.
It's even worse when he starts singing which he did from time to time in Chicago Hope.

Goran had a Safin like popularity at one point IMO. (not in the "hot" department. I mean, I don't fancy Safin but I can understand why some do. Goran however? )

Meaning that no matter how stupid he acted and how daft he was at times, he would just about always trigger a "Awww, he's quite a character, isn't he? Isn't he just adorable?" reaction. Annoyed the hell out of me. He'd say this really daft thing and all he'd have to do is flash that silly grin of his and people would just melt.

The fact that I loath his playing style (effective as it may have been at times) doesn't help either.

Not mentioning that he beat Rafter in the Wimbly final.

But, isn't it better to have the fewest possible turns in the fastest possible time? I've always thought of it that way, but it's interesting to see that the youngsters have put a premium on turning very fast instead of precision in matching. The time is impressive. :worship:

JM, it's like mineral exploration, you aren't always going to find the profitable mineral, even if there are reserves in the area. This can be true of men too. And sometimes you find fool's gold.

Those 2 girls I contacted, seemed interested and all, and all of a sudden they are as cold as ice and don't bother replying... I mean, of course they knew I contacted them to gam them, doesn't take rocket science, but if they weren't interested in the first place they just had to ignore me from the beginning and help me not wasting my time !!! Do they really think they're something special?!?!? Maybe they changed their minds.

I know immigrants who were confused when they first encountered it, but once they understood, they've loved it the best of all the new holidays they've encountered. I wish the whole world had one joint holiday of thanksgiving. :) (That's my John Lennon peace child showing.)

It could never be a clicking game because the cards don't really turn all that fast. :p

Number of turns is really just more of a tiebreaker (e.g. 34 seconds in 20 turns is better than 34 seconds in 26 turns).

EDIT: I've never heard "have went" either.

I've heard it on television SEVERAL times. Also, the judge in my court routinely says "have went." I don't think I've ever heard her say "gone." She mangles nearly every past participle. Sometimes I just spend my time writing them down. I thought it was just Utah until I started hearing it many places.

Those of us who learnt English as a 2nd language know it better. :ras: I used to help some of my US colleagues with spelling sometimes. :rolls:

So true. My sainted grandmother who had to leave school in the 4th grade and learned grammar from a book in her early twenties had impeccable grammar (although idiosyncratic pronunciation) and would be horrified with such elementary mistakes.

Goodall and Koenig are having fun today

Jason about the arena being the preferred spot for famous singers, bands etc to have their concerts: "Miley Cyrus is coming next week. I know she is your favorite, Robbie."

Koenig then said something about his 2 kids listening to that music all the time.

Jason: "Isn't that bad parenting to make your kids listen to that stuff?"

Koenig: "Stop it! Naughty"

i could never figure out from their voices who's Koenig and who's Godall...:confused::o

The word "thought" is a great example of why I found English so strange initially. There are 7 letters in the word but just 3 sounds when you pronounce it. It was such a foreign concept to me, the silent sounds, cause we don't have them in Latvian or in the other languages I had studied.

English is just a fucked up, cobbled together language.

And then there are the double letters. I remember the nightmare of trying to learn to spell bureau and material when I was a little girl. The letters just jumped around so in my mind. Mississippi -- which children here make up into a little song while spelling it -- I never could get that. And the alphabet. I could read practically anything by the time I went to school, but I couldn't learn the alphabet (still have trouble sometimes) and I felt so dumb. Mississippi and the alphabet took a toll on my self esteem.

three players could finish level on the same number of matches and sets won, and also the same percentage of games won, in which case it would be the ATP which would pick who would go through to the semi-finals.

fuck will somebody please read this (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/tennis/andymurray/6655668/Andy-Murray-far-from-assured-of-reaching-ATP-World-Tour-Finals-play-offs.html) and tell me what it says?

If Murray loses, Roger is through no matter what, then Del PO is through if he wins 2-0 or 2-1.
If Del po loses 2-0 he's out on SRs so the winner of the Murray/Nando match is through.
If Del po loses 2-1 it's going to go down to games ratio between the three of them.

p.s. Yes, xmas is bigger in the U.S. It's all about christmas starting after TG and even before these days. More commerce and more blaring. Yes. Because people have insisted on using that way, and English changes with usage. :(

Now I hear everywhere "have went" This is so wrong, but it's now becoming so wide spread -- I even heard an "expert" on TV say "have went" -- that it's going to change someday. And it's not just "go." Everywhere I turn people are misusing irregular verbs. It's just :crying2: I hate hate hate "have went"!!! I hear it way too often. Another one I hate is "must of/should of/could of" instead of "must have/should have/could have."

Stop ranting you fangirls, if you can't be arsed with tennis for the only reason Rafito sucks then you better get used to it and switch to watching another sport. what i hate more than anything is different than Yes! And "different then" is even worse.

Ah... the silent "n"

And there's the invisible "r" as in "wash" :p And some people have an invisible "u" in "film" - "filum". Another one I hate, although not as much as getting the past participle wrong.

The word "thought" is a great example of why I found English so strange initially. There are 7 letters in the word but just 3 sounds when you pronounce it. It was such a foreign concept to me, the silent sounds, cause we don't have them in Latvian or in the other languages I had studied. What's more important to Americans thanksgiving or Christmas?I'm not American but I'm adding my two cents anyway, since I'm a close neighbour. Like BD and Star said, it's still Christmas but Thanksgiving there is bigger than Thanksgiving here. Some Americans get more time off at Thanksgiving that they do at Christmas from their jobs, so that has an effect.
