Will Fed get vengence for his total defeat at the US Open and losing his #16 or will Del Potro win again?

Well Federer had chances to be two sets to love up at the US open final, but credit to Del Potro to fight it out and win the set (and match in general).

Federer's slice was terrific today and if he does more of the same against Del Potro, Del Potro will have lots of trouble dealing with it. Now a days, you never know with Fed what game will be bring to the table. I think Fed should win this one in straights though.

I'd love to say Federer has this one, but lately Federer has the unqualified ability to completely choke and lose to the crappist players.

WTF Match No. 1 - Nadal Aussie Open Final: MASSIVE last set choke, WTF?
WTF Match No. 2 - Tsonga in Montreal: was up a set and 3 games, WTF?
WTF Match No. 3 - JM Del Potro US OPEN final: was up 2 sets and love, WTF?
WTF Match No. 4 - Djokovic Basel in front of his hometown crowd, WTF?
WTF Match No. 5 - Benneteau Bercy qualifying rounds, the guy wasn't even top 20, WTF?

This is really really not good. Is his age catching up to him?

federer should win this in 2 based on current form, and a bagel isnt out of the question.
if delpo raises his game to USO/RG levels, then there could be an upset again.

... if Murray also beats Verdasco by any scoreline. But if he loses to Verdasco, then even a straight set loss would earn Federer the 2nd spot for SF.

Federer will get revenge, he has all the tools to beat Del Potro comfortably as we know.

If Del Potro hits his spots he can cause Federer problems, but I just don't think the Argentinian is in that kind of form and mentally he seems to have dropped since his big win whereas Federer seems as determined as I've seen him in a long time.

First time since like 04 I'll be supporting Feddie in a match  !

Hope he wins it in 2 for murrays benefit only. Potro in 2 might work though....

Are people forgetting everyone thought Del Potro didn't have a chance at the US Open final and then he went on to a huge upset winning his first Grand Slam?

Don't count Potro out, in fact I think he's the favorite to win this one.

Amazing poll result thus far.

I reckon Del Potro is not playing at his best but he's still playing fairly well. He managed to beat Verdasco (who, whether you want it or not, is still a very good player -Federer himself struggled against him) and lost to Murray with a rather crappy third set. Still, the way he played the last part of the first set and the entire second set against Murray was in a pretty good level, a level that could be enough to beat Federer.

Federer on the other hand has managed to win his matches in 3 sets and he's struggled a lot. Remember that Federer is a very unstable player some times and can play his worst game at times in which he needs to bring his A game.

All in all, I do think Fed will win tomorrow but I'm far from being sure. If I had to abscribe a priori probabilities I'd estimate that Federer has something like a 60% of winning the match... I wouldn't be surprised if Del Potro wins, esp. if the match goes to a third set.

Lopsided poll is lopsided. According to MTF logic, this probably means Del Potro will win. And I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he did. Having said that, I expect Federer will be intent on getting his revenge.

Yeah, putting my cash on DelPotro so as to speak right now. :spit:

Seriously, either one in three. No clue. Expecting at least two TBs.

This should be a great match - too close to call I think.

I hope its on BBC television this time. I understand they promoted the tournament that they will show all matches but clearly that hasn't been the case.

Hmmm, this ones tough to call.

I'd like to see Del Po win, but at the same time, Murray has also been playing well, so to see either of them go is a little sad.

Still, I give the edge to Federer here so maybe Fed in 3.

Del Po's serving will be key in this one. It's what prevented Murray from having a good 3rd set vs Fed, besides Federer ridiculously high level.

Sorry to rain on your rant but Nadal, Del Potro and Djokovic are hardly among the crappiest players.

So the guy loses focus... did you know he's actually human and not a super tennis playing robot?
