Got to love the player with fewer weapons playing the big points with poise and intelligence.

well, I thought that Mardy finally got out of his slump because the made the final of the Olympic tournament, but Mardy is still struggling :smash:

not nice for him bowing out at the 2nd round of the US Open... so I guess Vince is the best US player now behind Andy, or what? :tape:

With Berdych there is certainly a new generation of Czech players coming and maybe Tabara join him. I've checked a few of Tabara's challenger results and they are quite promising. Now he must transform it to ATP level.

Oh no!!! Never Mind Mardy, you're still at a transitional stage I believe. Next Year, you'll do so much better here at the US Open!!! :bounce: Have a really good break now!!! :)

Mardy

if Dent loses his match too, what will PMac do? Still pick one of the young American mental cases to play DC? I can't stand Vinny to save my life but he deserves to play.

Mardy's won one 5-setter... but I can't for the life of me see how. I think this brings his record to a stellar 1-4

Oh and Neely, Dent is actually ranked above Spadea right now (Though that could change when Taylor has a TON of points to defend this fall)

In fact, I think vinny could be the best american on clay after andre

I've never seen Tabara playing before today. There's something very interesting about the way he gets through games via compact power and precision. Henman will likely take him out, though.

Well there's no "could be" about it, he definitely is. Based on results this year, he's better than Andre too ;)

unfortunately this is what i truly felt LAST year. i think the sport is passing Mardy by to be honest. i don't think he really has what it takes. plus Duckboy does cast a huge shadow.

Mardy looked like he really lost it at the end there. esp the dub fault on match point... i saw that coming. looked like some problems with his thumb... those last 3 games wasnt tabara just spanking the hell out of every ball.
a kind of unorthodox action esp on his backhand, but nice. plays henman in R3. tabara will be tired from this, prev rnd + quallies. he'll also be excited, henman should win fairly comfortably, to equal his personal best at the USO... henman got the better chance, rather than having to play mardy f
def a match to watch

Congratulations Tabara for the win, but I think Fish needs to ask some serious questions about his performances in Slams, he just doesn't bring it to these events.

I'm glad Fish and Dent lost; I am sick and tired of the American commentators who find it hard to give their opponents any credit. When Roddick played Scoville Jenkins it was all about Rodick teaching him a lesson but when Bagdatis, Baker and Delic win a set off their opponents they can't stop brimming with joy that the youngsters are playing so well against the No. 1 and No. 3 no less.

They are too fucking one-sided. Even the Agassi/Mayer match. OMG. "How long can he keep this up?" That's always their fucking song as if Andre/Roddick are the only fuckers on the court.

Good riddance.

BTW The American women can't boast of getting the same kind of coverage as the men, unless they're Sharapova and Serena (and she's only getting attention because she made sure her outfit would draw their attention).
