Who will win this one?

Nadal seems to be very good at turning around important losses especially against players ranked outside the top 5 or so. For example, Grand Slam losses to Gonzo and Tsonga were turned around the next time they played. I'm expecting Nadal to win this one.

Soderling is a complete and utter failure if he loses this, what a horrible loser he would be if he lost :yeah:

Rafa in easy two sets:rolleyes: Considering what we've seen of these players lately, how can you even say that?
Well, I don't think it'll be easy for either one. I expect tight sets but Soderling will take it. In 2 or 3, doesn't matter.

Soderking doesn't even need to come out of 1st gear to win this one, Nadull is finished for the season.

Nadal in two. But IF Soderling was to win this one, he has to do it in two. If it goes to a third he's doomed.

Rafa in two sets...unless he has a brain cramp and causes the match to extend to a third. This is THE match of the tourney for Rafa...he will want to win this one more than any other. This will be intensity personified.

But the surface is embarrassingly slow for an indoor court.

i'm not gonna lie, Soderling will make this interesting, but I don't think Rafa will care to lose to this guy again, given the history between these two. Anyone who chooses Soderling must clearly have it out for Rafa. Rafa in 2 sets.

Well, if it's as slow as you indicated, Rafa could very well pull this out, seeing as slow courts suit him well.

I think just slightly, he wants to win this more than the match with Djokovic on Friday. Rafa's coming out on top in this one!!! Soderling doesn't stand a chance.

but still, you're talking crap saying that the 'history' between them favours nadal...

The history I was speaking of wasn't related to Nadal's victories. I meant in terms of the interesting things that happened in their last couple of meetings. And no, I'm not talking crap.

When it comes to fight, and REALLY bringing it: no one is fights like Rafa. So that should give him the edge to win.

The clay should give him the edge to win. It didn't.
The indoors should give Sod the edge to win.
Even Rafa chokes as a fighter.

Yes, it is unprecedented that some top player pulls out, granting someone who has finished just outside the top eight a spot at the year end championships. It has never ever happened before, has it? ;)

I'm sure you were also equally heartbroken when Simon qualified in the same manner last year and made the semi after beating Federer. :D

if the tennis level isn't good, at least the entertainment value of each one glaring daggers at the other across the net will be worth watching the match :p

Wow, it's a very even bet. It stood 56 - 56 before I voted.

I think Soderling in 2. Something similar to 7-5, 6-3.

I'm a Nadal fanboy but I think Nadal is always going to have major problems against the likes of Del Potro and Soderling. I'm picking Soderling to win this in 3 sets

Bernard Black
11-23-2009, 10:16 AM
Nadal's tennis will be even uglier than usual, and he'll find a way to win this whilst at the same time getting under the skin of gentleman Soderling.

Sophocles
11-23-2009, 10:30 AM
Soderling indoors is not a good match-up for Nadal, but Sod's game is relatively low percentage, so if he's off, Nadal will win. Depends on Sod.
