...is Mr. Nole.

He has the most wins (71 so far)
He played the most matches (89 so far)
He endured it! Unlike his rivals, he didn't cancel participation at any tournament due to injury or tiredness. Such strength can only be achieved by Spartan training and fearless spirit.:D

Anyone surprised?:p

Why no Soderling?

300 Spartans and their king Leonidas didn't defeat Persian army. Mighty Persians were defeated in following battle of Marathon. ;):D
(I don't want to minimize Toad's and Goat's wins over Clay Monster, but Rafa wasn't force in those matches like he was in previous years. Spartan Nole prepared him for defeat just like king Leonidas prepared Persians.:secret:)

That was tactical move and wise one, as following results showed. Health is the priority.

Spartan ≠ fanatic/lunatic.

It's hardly spartan-esque to quit a match for 'Tactical Reasons'

It depends on who it does, of course.
Just like defeating Nadal doesn't count, as he wasn't 100%, but beating an obviously declining Federer will always count... to some. ;)

He didn't beat Roger, and beating somebody who is not 100% does not make you a Spartan.

So beating a player who's in decline does?

And I've no idea who you're talking about, I didn't vote for anyone, as I consider this whole 'Spartan'-idiocy as one big pile of :bs:.

Nadal's effort at the Australian Open was the most spartan-like performance this year. Beat Verdasco in the semis in 5 hours 14 mintues after which most people were saying he wouldn't have anything left against Fed in the final. Then he proceeded to beat Federer in 5 sets, and Federer was the one looking tired.

Del Potro :rocker2:

Nadal was great at AO but he was No.1 at that time, that changes.

Djokovic was great lately but he didn't win anything major.

Roddick's Wimbledon final :worship: but he lost.

Toad was just lucky.

Rafa at the AO, Roddick at Wimbledon, and Del Potro at the US Open were the most impressive to me. I do believe that Taylor Dent deserves an honorable mention, coming back from his injury as he has and giving us some nice matches, including at the USO.

A Spartan should fight until the last minute when he is on the court, whatever happens, just like Rafa.
Not a player like nole, lost easily in FO and WO, and retired in AO.

Rafa at the AO, Roddick at Wimbledon, and Del Potro at the US Open were the most impressive to me.
+1, all of them are very inspiring.

Delpo at Miami being 2 breaks down in the final set against Nadal and then coming back to win must surely count as one hell of a spartan moment!
And Washington final. As Fab Oberto said about this game, "¡Que partido ganaste Delpo!" incredible comeback.

Fed because of RG matches and Wimbledon Final.
Söderking 2nd because he showed no fear and took Nadal down at RG, that itself is a spartan effort.
Djokovic was good too in those cruel battles against Nadal, like Madrid.
Can't comment on Pony since I have not seen US Open.

Nadal. Winning the AO the way he did has to be one of the most remarkable achievements in recent tennis history. He then went on to have a great clay corut season, till Paris. Del Potro would be my second choice, then Roger.

Del Potro

Beat Nadal 3 times in a row.
Beat Federer 2 times in a row.
Won the USO.
Made the semi's at the FO.
Made the quarters at the AO.
Made his 1st Masters 1000 Final.
Reached a career high of number 5.
