Great effort in the first set, had sp, was in control of that point and could not finish the play. Mentality was the key

That backhand passing shot by Roger at *6-7 in the tiebreaker was the key to the whole match.

Best match so far for Roger. I expect him to win against Novak.

Marco should be so proud of reaching the semi, and even prouder of how he played the first set. He was going for it and hitting lines. The point that broke his resistance was the set point that he had - Federer came up with the backhand pass and that was that. I hope he keeps rising in the rankings. :yippee:

As for Roger, I think he was passive often, but then again Chiudi was coming up with penetrating, hard shots - Fed forced on the defence. He played the big points really well though; like when he saved 3 consecutive BPs and of course saving that SP.

The two things I'll remember from this match is Chiudi's inspired display and Roger hitting 4 consecutive blasting forehand winners to win a service game in the first set. (I think it was four anyway.)

Really good first set. Good for Marco and good for the crowd watching. Too bad the second set fizzled.

What a win by Federline, the guy is a model of consistency and it surely will be a long longtime before he fades into retirement.

Chiudinelli reminded me of Greul when he played Federer at the USO: a veteran challenger level ballbasher playing out of his mind, actually having a few chances, only to fold eventually. The accuracy of his serve is remarkable.
