Draw Analysis:

Quarter 1: Fed's section -

Not enough roll in this universe.

Quarter 2: Murray's Section -

Bad on paper, until you research the current form of the players. Murray should walk it :sport:

Quarter 3: Evil Section:

Pathetic. Nole should stroll to |QF with (prbably) Davy, who will be tired from winning Valencia.

Quarter 4: RafiANGEL Section:

Hell draw peppered with in-form indoor monsters; Chiudinelli 2nd round, Indoor Monster Roaster Berdych in the 3rd, Tsonga "King of Paris, Crowd Fave, Roaster par excellence" in QF, then TMS Shanghai/Valencia winner Davy or Beijing/Basel winner Nole in SF.

Disgusting draw.

Nobody wins 5 times in a row by chance. If Rafa loses in the final, it will clearly be because this time you have applied your magic jinxing powers in the opposite way.

If he wins, that will be proof you were the one responsible for the 5 previous tournament losses which include the US Open.

Nadal : happy to be here
Nadal def.Almagro
Bercy, 10 Nov. 2009

At the eve before his first match in the Paris, Bercy Masters 1000 against his compatriot Nicolas Almagro, Rafael Nadal appeared relaxed on Tuesday in front of the press. Finalist in 2007, the Spaniard hasnít won a tournament in six months but he assures us that heís very motivated. The world number two also honors Marat Safin.

Q : Rafael, how do you feel after more than two weeks without competition ?
Iím doing well, Iím happy to be here in Paris and happy to be able to play well. This tournament is always difficult. For me, this type of surfaces is more complicated, especially at the end of the season but Iím going to do my best to continue to progress and play better and better. This year, sadly, I lost my rhythm a bit in the middle of the season because of injuries. Itís always difficult to play again after an injury. The second half of the season has been extremely difficult but I will try to end it as well as I can.

Q : Youíre coming out of an injury, just like Andy Murray. Does he impress you with the six titles heís won?
Yes, heís had a very good year. You have to congratulate him. Heís an excellent player. Iím sure that he can beat everybody.

Q: Is it frustrating to not have won a tournament in six months? Do you think about that?
No, I havenít thought about it. In those six months, Iíve played two tournaments and one semi-final in circumstances that were not totally normal. In bad circumstances, Iíve played the quarter final in Cincinnatti and I didnít play too badly in the US Open. But, I havenít been able to play on clay or in small tournaments. Itís harder getting a victory in big tournaments. You have to arrive there with high confidence. You have to play well. In a certain way, those results were not that bad but I knew that it was going to be difficult to win a title. I will have a chance in the Davis Cup final. I hope to be able to help my team win this encounter.

Q: What feeling do you have coming back to Paris after having lost your title in Roland Garros? Do you feel a difference?
No, none. Itís the same.

Q : Do you feel the same motivation for Roland Garros and for Bercy ?
Iím always motivated, no matter the tournament. Itís difficult to compare those two tournaments. In Roland Garros, the motivation isnít any different but the joy of playing there is perhaps a bit different. The circumstances are different. Roland Garros is clay and this is a fast surface so itís difficult to compare the two. However, both are important tournaments.

Q: You have a lot of fans here in Paris. What do you think of the public?
I have a lot of fans, yes. When I left the court here last year, when I was injured, I did have a couple of problems with the public that did not support me. And believe me, it was harder for me than for the public leaving that court. But other than that, I have nothing to add. Itís one of the most important cities for me in my career. Iíve won Roland Garros four times in this city. Each time, Iíve always had special emotions. The Roland Garros public has always been nice to me. Theyíre also nice here. People are always friendly with me when Iím walking in the street.

Q: In the beginning of the season, you were in favor of a modification of the antidoping tests as well as the ATP. Have you talked about it in the players Council?
Yes, weíve talked about it but itís not a problem for me to keep repeating. Iím the first to wish for a clean sport but according to me, we donít have the right method, it needs to change a bit. I think that the current system goes too far. That they follow you wherever you goÖitís difficult to speak out for that. You have to defend the players and I have faith in my colleagues. I still think that the other players are clean and until the results show otherwise, I will continue to defend my friends.

Q: Tell us about Marat Safin. When did you first meet him and what do you remember of the first time you played against him?
I donít remember exactly when I first heard of him because I was a child back then. I believe that the first time I met him was when I started playing on tour, in 2003. I do remember his final in the US Open anyway, as well as the final of the Australian Open. I saw that, I was there. Heís a great player and tennis is going to miss him. Heís one of the most charismatic player on tour.

In the beginning of the year, you were quite adament on the issue of the antidoping tests, specifically about the method. Today, Xavier Malisse and Yanina Wickmayer are suspended for a year. The ATP has mentioned the idea of changing the rules. Are you in favour?
Rafael Nadal: Yes. Iím the first to wish for a clean sport but in my opinion, weíre not using the right method. It needs a couple of changes. I think that it goes too far at the moment. They follow you everywhere, always, wherever you goÖYou need to defend the players. I have faith in my colleagues. I always believe that the other players are clean and unless the results show otherwise, I will continue to defend my friends.

Have you already had the opportunity to test the surface while training? What's your impression?
Rafael Nadal: I think that it's faster than in the previous two years and the rebounds are very low. That's been my feeling anyway....
