Absorbed Korolev's fire-power really well and was simply too solid on serve. Point of the match: Korolev's thundering backhand down the line. :worship:

I have not seen much of Korolev, but is he pretty much always a mindless ball basher?

Roger eats up these mindless bashers like a cat with a mouse.

Yes - even more because it was followed by a like-wise shot from Feds (okay from his FH) nearly directly thereafter. :D

Roger played 3 matches , 6 sets and approximately 3 hours on court...that's the way to play for a very long time into your 30s...Rafa usually has one 3-hours match in each of his tourneys...

He did look pretty one dimensional today, yes. :tape: Fair enough I haven't seen a lot of his matches (just his one against Fed at the AO and Chardy). He hits it real hard, but when coming forward he looked a bit clueless. Fed's slice worked quite well to neutralise Korolev's power in the second set I thought.

I think he needs more consistency. He hit two double faults and a loose shot to literally gift the break in the first set to Roger.

There was only the 1 point where Roger seemed in trouble. Break point down in the first set against a huge Korolev attack. Thought that was the best defensive point of the match.

Yup.

Getting a tiny little bit better in managing his head recently though, which is why the gradual climb up the rankings. Still had some crazy meltdowns recently though (most recently against Marchenko in Russia).
