Basel QF: Chiudinelli crushes Gasquet 6-1 6-3

Never expected this from the Swiss number 3
Richard seemed to have some problems with his right arm/elbow but still a great performance from Marco, he is going to crack the top 50 now I assume...

Probably a semifinal showdown with his childhood friend, some guy named Roger Federer.

Gasquet should've retired immediately after the first set, disgraceful display, if your arm hurt it doesn't mean you can't run anymore.

Gasquet. Happy that he played till the end though, despite injuries.

Chiudinelli. :worship: From a rank of #779 end of last year to a rank of #50 after this victory. :speakles: Biggest jump? He was amazing today, sublime. Backhand was perfection, serve was solid as stone and he wanted this so bad.

WOW WOW WOW. What a performance by Cutinelli! Top 50 as of today, yes (according to the commies on bet365). :bounce:
Fantastic result Marco! :hatoff:

Apparently there was something bothering Gasquet with his right arm, which may well account lots to his poor performance. Get well soon Richard.

Top 50? Really? Wow. I'm floored :worship: I've been supporting Marco for many years, through all the injury problems and my fears that he would end his career, and to see this is just amazing. I never thought it would happen :yeah:

If he loses to Korolev :tape:

Gasquet. Happy that he played till the end though, despite injuries.

:bs: This is a general appoach here to praise some one for playing throuh injuries. I heavily disagree, if you are not fit, quit. And Gasquet has more than an ellbow on his mind.

That's what the commentators said at Bet365, yes.
I guess they checked it! :D

Comeback of the Year... or maybe even YEARS. :worship:

If it was as bad as you seem to imply Puschkin I'm sure he'd retire. Richie was keeping the ball in play and holding his own serve in the second set. Didn't see anything that made me think he should quit (or he was just disguising the pain really well). It looked a bit overwhelming when all those people surrounded him but he got on with his job afterwards.

Nah he gets another 90 points (180 in total) so that will make him number 55 next week :).

Yeah, he sure had a great comeback this year and to reach your first final in front of your homecrowd is awesome!
Too bad Stan didn't make it earlier so we could have 3 Swiss guys in the SF.

Marco had a great backhand today, and his serve was really good too.

If he doesn't get the comeback of the year award, then I don't know what you have to do to get it. :yeah:

Good effort from Chiudinelli, stayed rock solid throughout.

Let's be honest though, he was made to look good by Gasquet who was rolling the serve in and leaking errors off the forehand all over the shop - he pretty much tanked from the middle of the first set onwards.
