All the matches I have seen of him since the beginning of the European clay season (admittedly, no more than 6-8 matches, but on different surfaces) he has been predominantly 'pushing' the ball. He'll be going backwards next year unless he goes back to being a little more offensive.

It may be because of a long break from matches. Still, Murray will be crushed in the WTF if he doesn't improve quickly.

Mayer a clay courter?? He is 48-30 in hard courts, has won the canadian open as a jr and beat Querrey at 2005 uo jr.

I never said he is a "world class indoor talent"; I said he is not a claycourter. Look at his record, especially as a junior, and look at his game. Mayer is no Hernandez or Montañes :shrug: He comes a lot closer to someone like Cuevas, but I guess you would also consider him a clay courter for no good reason. Maybe it's time to start realizing that not everyone hailing from Latin America and Spain is a dirtballer pur sang.
