He played amazingly well today. I guess he is thinking this tournament might be his last for a while and so wants to make the most of it.

How many match points saved? I left the computer just after Coca-Colay held for 6/5 in the second set.

Nice. :)
Did Isner have any mp on his own serve?

Isner saved 4 setpoints in the 2nd set, the 4th sp win excellent mix of forehand, lob and stop-volley, it wasn't enough to win in straight sets.

Nice. :)
Did Isner have any mp on his own serve?

No. Gasquet saved both mp's on his own at 5:6 and 7:8. One with service winner, the other one with aggressive forehand which forced Isner to an error.

Isner saved 4 setpoints in the 2nd set, the 4th win excellent mix of forehand, lob and stop-volley, it wasn't enough to win in straight sets.

Slightly lucky though with the let cord. :p Gasquet had to run hard to retrieve it, and run even harder to retrieve the lob, but yeah the volley from Isner was top notch. Not enough though as you say.

Loved how Richie went for the second serve when at 10*-9 in the TB.

The point of the match, Gasquet played great that really too starting with very good return...

It's his 3rd win after saving match point but the first one since his famous win over Federer in Monte Carlo 4 years ago.

Good stuff from Richie today.

And YES he was a mental giant today, fended off all those service bombs from Big John, just hung in there and then played a quality TB (no choking and aggressive) until he worn down the serve machine.

COngrats Richie - maybe FINALLY taking off that damn cap has let his brain breathe a bit...

:devil::devil: love it.

He played well today and his forehand was a quality shot for a change. If he played like that all the time he could be top 10 again.

This was a very good match to watch, great to see Gasquet keep fighting. Once he found a way to break Isner's serve, he did not look back. Surprisingly good forehands, too.
Special thanks to Head and Shoulders for getting rid of that stupid hat of Gasquet's. and what with Isner's polka dot black shirt? hideous.

Not that it is going to happen but if he beat Federer this week it would come close.

Wow, what's with Gasquet's new forehand? He has really flattened it out and added some pace to it and it was really lethal in this match, almost as great as his yummy BH! If that's the forehand we're going to see from him from now on, he will do some serious damage on the tour for sure!
Also glad to see that stupid backwards fratboy cap gone!
