Wierd match, 1st set really should have gone Berdych's way, pretty much had a BP in nearly all of Simon's service games, but then got broken when serving to stay in the set.

2nd set was pretty normal/average, Berdych breaking Simon at 4-4.

Simon went up 3-0* in the 3rd set, due to Berdych only getting very few 1st serves in, and had a few BP's to go *4-0 up. Berdych hang on and then saved a few more BP's in his next service. Then when Simon served for the match Berdych had 2 BP's but couldn't convert.

Typical Tomas match, wasting a heap of chances :o but well done Gilles, a lot more aces than usual for him today.

1/9 on BPs in the 1st set :help:

Yeah, and quite a few 2nd serve aces from him aswell.

If Berdych served better in the 3rd he could have probably could of win/come close to winning.

How good are Simon's chances of making it to London?

Note: Ranked 12th, 13th in the race, and defending 3rd round points at Paris.

Always a horrible result for tennis when Simon wins.

Defending points means fuck all in the race!

If Simon wants to make London (and improve his H2H against Federer :p), he'll probably have to go far in Valencia and Paris.

Yes, I'm sure that when Simon wins - even a second round match at a medium-sized tournament - hundreds of fans instantly give up on tennis. The new numbers then get passed on to current and potential sponsors, who shake their heads and wonder if it's worth putting money into this sport. It's a tragedy in the making.

1) Win Valencia & make Paris final = 3195 points, but very likely Verdasco bypasses him.
2) Valencia final & win Paris = 3395. Likely enough, Verdasco would need a semi here and a semi in Paris to pass him

Realistically, he has near no chance - he'd have to beat Davy here just to make the final. Also, Sod might play Paris and pass him, Gonzo is still in Basel, and Tsonga can perhaps make it with a Paris final too (and probably with a win).
