How does a player become your fave?

I thought it would be interesting to know how a player becomes your fave.

If it's a combination of reasons, vote for the predominant one and specify in a post.

For me it's game, personality, nationality, in that order.

Easy. The trophies and chances of him winning stuff to make my life more important, crap players are not my thing.

Game for all non-Russians. All Russians are my faves by nationality.

It depends. I have sort of a strange list of favorite and I like most of the players for different reasons.

Nadal
Federer
Monfils
Verdasco
Tsonga
Simon
Roddick
Santoro
Blake
Querrey

Game & personality. Nationality is completely irrelevant to me.

After a good year on tour legs start to mature & fine ass grows, then i take note.

Except for 1 or 2 juniors i like to keep my eye on.

Marketability first, game second. Personaility is impossible to gauge unless you've met the person. Nationality and looks are irrelevant.

Game.

And if that game beats players I don't like, all the better!

Game + on and off court demeanor + sportsmanship.

all of the above is not an option! I would say game/style of play, personality/likability, looks, and something that just stands out from the rest. It will be hard to find someone that embodies all of these things like Marat when he's gone, IMO. But, I also like Djokovic, Tsonga & Baghdadis as they each embody some of these traits :)

By personality in this poll I understand on-court behavior or maybe also behavior during press conferences etc. :)

nadal is my favourite because of his personality, he seems like such a gracious guy whether he wins or loses, he usually says something complimentary about his opponent, and yeh I just have a tonne of respect for the guy- the number of times he has been down in matches and come back from behind to win, takes incredible and superior mental strength to accomplish that.

(eg. nalbandian at indian wells this year, saved 5 match points in the 2nd set, and went on to win the 3rd set 6-0)

bits and pieces of reality and some borrowed personalities don't make up the whole quilt.

Well, what I meant was whatever you can pick up from on-court behaviour and interviews. Of course, you won't get the whole picture but that can help you form an opinion.

For me I'm not usually a fan of the players that win everything, and being a Canadian I prefer to cheer for countrymen... that being said, I do love watching Roger Federer. His game is so magnificent, so unlike any other player in recent years. I know that will be slammed by other posters, but at the moment I am cheering for him to win as much as possible.

Him... and Canadian Daniel Nestor in doubles...

A combination of a few factors.

Ferrero Forever

Personality then game. Looks can only be a factor that makes me take an extra look at a player. But I won't really get to know their personality unless I'm interested enough in their game (and most of the time I mean their off court personality)
