A reocurring theme in Del Potro's career.... Injuries and more injuries

Not to toot my own horn:).. But I called it a few months ago.. I said dont be too hung up on the old Del Potro yet.. Ive said it time and time again that this guy will most likely be injury plagued most of his career. And wouldnt u know it its saddled with another injury again.. I wouldnt expect too much consistent winning out of this guy.. Lets face it.. Hes too big for tennis. A guy that size is only going to get more injury prone as his career goes on.

He wins the USO and people are led to believe that the Era of the big ball basher Del Potro is upon us. Lets see if this guy can even stay healthy for one to even necessitate an entire domninant career. Yes he is capable of catching fire and be a deadly player.. Many players are really. But as we have seen again with today's field.. they either do not have the ability to win consistently on a level like Nadal pre-injury of how Fed has been his whole career. Dont count your chickens until they hatch.

The deal today with most of the guys is even if they have the ability to be greats... case in point a guy like del Potro will most likely be blinsided with injuries to achieve such a feat.

Hate to say it.. But its true.. We wont see a consistent week in week out player for a LONG TIME on a dominant level like Federer or a guy who can maintain a year end number 1 for 6 years like Pete. GUys today either physically and mentally lack the week in week out consistency, or in del potros case has the ability but cant stay healthy.. Its usually one or the other with the guys today

His current problem is wrist tendinitis, any player can have that

Not to piss on your parade of tooting your own horn, but I fail to see how a wrist is related to his height.

Isn't it way too early to be predicting his demise? I do agree though that the players aren't consistent enough but that is the by-product of todays game - long baseline rallies with a lot of ballbashing and running around.

Any single guy can get that, any single tennis player is bound to get it.
Seriously, half the players are suffering from an injury and/or fatigue at this point of the season, so it´s not really a big deal. A proper rest will fix it, and then it´s time to start the next season with the Abu Dhabi exho again.

This is MTF. JMDP is already labelled as "one slam wonder" even it's less than 2 months after his first slam and he's only 21.

gimme a break man, this is BS

delpo isn't safin just yet

speaking of safin, man that guy was smoking before injuries crushed him- Sampras in 2000 was playing lights out tennis at the US and he still got crushed

and at the end of the day- Delpo is the only guy who is going to challenge Rafa at the french next year- so we all have a vested interest in seeing Delpo injury free, ya know

His loss against Cilic was a 'bad' one. His loss in Shanghai was due to an injury, which I don't consider as being a bad loss, but rather as bad luck.

Whom are you talking about? Rafa or Del Potro? Del Potro hasn't lost to Cilic and Rafa hasn't lost in Shanghai yet (let alone due to injury :scared:) so I can't figure out whom you talk about.

My mistake. Talking about DelPotro of course, as this thread is about him and nobody else - but forgot who he lost to. :help:
It's been a tough day of work for me today. :o

Someone has a crystal ball?

Del Potro looks after his body. Which is why he didn't finish the match against Melzer this week after he felt the pain and why he is going to see doctors in Argentina and rest before his final tournaments of 2009. He has also been consistently at the top for about a year and a half without any major injuries. He is good at scheduling. It's hard for anyone's body to hold up considering physical grind of the tour as well as the grind of all the hard courts these days. Federer certainly is an anomaly. But we will see about this JMDP.

What the hell has Del Potro´s (or anyone else´s) sex life got to do with the topic anyway? You sound a bit obsessed...
