The end of the line : the european indoor season.

OK, nevermind Shanghai. It's more or less what Madrid was last year to him.

Right now, he is playing in :

- Lyon 250 (no points to take there for the race)

- Valence 500 (full score to take)

-Bercy 1000 (the same)

He said he wasn't skipping Lyon at Tokyo, now, he very much could.

Try to be positive, guys. This year was disappointing, he said it himself. Everything is good to take right now.

I'm happy and positive; even if it has been a "disappointing year" Jo should still end it at least in the top 10 or so which isn't half bad =p

A couple of tournaments left, and he's got some good points still to pick up. A strong end to the year would be nice, even if he doesn't make the YEC it gives him a nice platform for next year.

Good Luck Jo! It's disappointing in the sense he has not won any majors. But considering he still has not played a 5-setter, top-10 is a good place to be. Winning Tokyo was a boost. Also his body is holding up, everyone else is injured left and right. Of course last year he probably entered this part of the tour with a lot more energy. Is anybody going to see him play in Lyon or Paris?

Looks like Lopez might be about to toss Jo something of a lifeline in the YEC race

Humm... still something good to be made of this end of season...

Jo won his first round match against Kevin Kim in Lyon 76 76. It was tighter than I would have liked. According to Voo de Mar in GM, Jo has improved his tiebreak record to 32-16 this season. He comes right after Roddick's 33-12.

Thanks for keeping this place alive Bashak.

I won't be there for most of this week, so I come back for Valencia.

Allez Jo in Lyon !

He lost :(. Good thing because he can gain a lot of points in Valencia since soderling isn't playing. The extra rest should help:D.

:sobbing: I can't believe he lost against Clement. Was he playing that bad or was Clement playing out of this world? :ras:

Bashak
10-30-2009, 10:20 PM
Jo  Clement played well. I'm actually not dissappointed because if he won here, it would be very unrealistic for him to win/go far in Valencia.

Dini
10-30-2009, 10:24 PM
:sobbing: I can't believe he lost against Clement. Was he playing that bad or was Clement playing out of this world? :ras:

Clement was playing really well. He was retrieving everything, going for his shots, taking chances on Tsonga's serve and he controlled his nerves at the end. He got back so many lobs as well. In the TB he was just the more consistent person and after Tsonga hit 27 aces he couldn't find another ace in the TB. It was a really enteratining match and high quality I thought - but Clement was just too good on his own serve (Jo was two points away from the match at 5-4* but then Clement hit an ace to save his ass). What can you do about that? Arnaud reached the QFs of Stockholm (including qualie matches) and now he's in the SF of Lyon. I'm not surprised, but a bit disappointed with the last few points in the TB - Jo had a match point but netted the forehand and that was that. Tsonga was solid for most of the match (especially on serve) but just not good enough when it mattered the most.

Tess Gray
10-30-2009, 11:38 PM
Thanks for the summary! :D Well good to know it was Clement playing well and not Jo playing crappy. Onto Valencia then. Good luck there Jo!:)

Livestream was frozen so i just watched first set a little bit. He called the doctor and had a medical timeout because of wrist injury. He couldn't play well but i don't know what happened after first set.:awww:

I didn't see the injury timeout coz I watched from midway through the second set. Anyway as i didn't know he was injured I thought he had gone nuts:o because from what i saw on a v choppy live stream he kept going for HUGE DTL backhand winners from inside and outside the baseline and missing by country miles:eek: Serve was quite poor and I really don't think that his head was in it at this point:confused:. Got broken in the first service game of the 3rd after having game point:mad:. Sat down at the changeover, pulled a lot of faces (the usual frowning, sticking tongue out, rolling his head etc.etc.) and then retired:sad:

I wish he hadn't injured himself. Had a golden opportunity to gain points for WTF:( No matter I just hope he can defend Paris.

Really sorry, Jo  Hope that the wrist injury is not too serious, and that he can finish the year on a high in front of his home crowd in Paris. The WTF qualification looks doubtful, but with everyone else suffering year-end injuries and fatigue, anything is possible.

This year, it's been wonderful seeing him play a full season, with its highs and lows, joys and disappointments. As long as he's healthy in 2010 and beyond, I don't mind the occasional early round defeats - as long as he never loses the passion for the game and that he stays around for a very long time.

I don't know it's true or not but a Turkish tennis site said that his injury wasn't serious. He didn't want to risk Paris and he retired.

Bashak
11-05-2009, 04:54 PM
There is also an article in L'Equipe about the retirement. It asks "Is it a simple precaution right before Bercy (Paris) or is the injury more serious? The answer next week." So not really news.

DanaKz

Not so good, I think. The task is same - to win it else Davydenko and Verdasco go to London.

Bashak
11-12-2009, 02:13 PM
yeah, I think Davydenko will definitely make it to London regardless of his loss today. At this point what would help is Verdasco losing.

Jo is about to play Gilles now, allez!
