Berdych up *4-1 in the 3rd set, Safin gets it back to 4-4, then lost serve and Berdman was able to get it done.

Hope Safin can have a good event in Moscow.

Marat couldn't move a lot either. But what a loss, should've finished him off at the beginning of the second set.

Why didn't Safin shake hands with Berdych at the end of the match?

Cause their hands were injured.

They are doing a presentation for him at the moment, not sure he really wants to be on the court at the moment.

The choice of "Wild Thing" as the song.

2nd set bp stats : 1/1 Berdych, 0/7 Safin
And also marat reminded his capability of making useless comebacks.(ouanna at RG from 0-2,lapentti at Monte Carlo from 1-5 at final set TB)

Bizarre match. At the end of the 1st set it looked like Berdych was close to retire from the match as he could barely move properly. Got treatment for knee & hip. You'd think Safin take advantage of this in the second set, but no, he managed to implode himself... :explode:

Third set saw Berdych blowing a 4-1 lead, with Safin evening up the score to 4-4, whereafter Safin once again manages to lose his own serve and the match. Like I said, bizarre.

Congrats, Tomas... :hatoff:

Ok, so Sadin didn't shake hands with Berdych because presumably accused him for simulating an injury :o Nothing new, Safin did the same with Almagro.

He's been signing autographs now for ages.

I suppose so. He's only got himself to blame for this loss imho.

So you didn't see the match? Then you have no comment on it.

This was a terrible meltdown yet again but it's kind of obvious why Marat didn't shake hands.

So Berdych accused Safin of faking an injury? I was wondering why they didn't shake hands, the bet365 commentator was too much of an anus to notice/comment.

Which match? Safin-Berdych today only last game, Safin-Almagro few last games on youtube.

Berdych got treatment for the patella after the 1st set and Marat did the refusal at the end of the match, he said something to Berdych as they passed each other, but it wasn't audible.

I don't think the injury TO was a problem but now I can see why Berdych is one of the most disliked players among his fellow pros.

Good old short memory syndrome. Safin did this twice at RG, getting questionable timeouts against Starace and Mantilla, but they shook his hand after the match.

The one with Starace, taking it just before he served for the match.

This shit happens in tennis.

Of course sh!t happens, and don't forget that if Marat does something/anything it's adorable but when others do it it's not. :D   :wavey:

"I was fooled by the great small shot he hit in the beginning of the second set where he pretended he was injured, and then all of a sudden he'll be running around and still playing normal," said Safin.

"It got me out of concentration, all of a sudden we start to run again. The third set just slipped away in the beginning. I came back but I lost track of the match. At four-all I didn't know how to play, how to find the game."

And the angry Safin had words for Berdych: "If you're losing, just be a man and lose as a man. Don't pretend that you are injured and then you start running around and start to hit winners.

"I mean, what kind of sportsman are you? What kind of man are you?"

To me it was clear that Berdych was injured, mostly affecting his serve.

Remember there was some poll among the ATP pros about who are the most disliked players in the locker room, Söderling and Berdych came up 'at the top'.
I don't know how credible this poll was. And back then I was kinda surprised to see Berdych up there, that's why I remember.

If you mean the article in Le Parisien two years ago, they only asked 11 French players, it wasn't a serious article at all.
People only started talking about it because Berdych was asked about it in his press conference then or something like that.

I thought he was 0-4 down in the final set. At 4-4 30-15 up he really should have finished the job. Screws up the momentum yet again.

Surprised he didn't shake hands. Uncharacteristic of him.

Had to go to work when Berdych was serving at *4-3 40-40 2nd set, and i really thought Safin would somehow win this in 2, tho thankfully he didn't :D

And i thought i could be happier this week after Berdych beat Cilic :rocker2:
