Not a great season, this one, for us two and a half Ferrer fans.:awww: But hey, there's always next season.:D

In general I'm not excited about the end of the tennis season though. Haven't been so for the last few years, save for the year David could compete in the MC. Too many players just don't make the end of the season. Lots of withdrawals and handicapped players. Resulting in ridiculous results.

hopefully his knees will heal and he'll refind his form in time for the Aussie Open :)

I'm going to London so I wonder how many of them will be 100% fit :o

Barely 24 hours after finishing runner-up to Novak Djokovic in Beijing, No. 11 seed David Ferrer made a fast turnaround to defeat Michael Llodra 7-6(2), 6-1 in a first-round clash in Shanghai.

Ferrer dropped just eight points on serve and broke serve twice from three opportunities as he finished strongly to dispatch the No. 28-ranked Llodra in 69 minutes. Prior to reaching the final at the China Open, the Valencia resident had also posted a semi-final showing in Kuala Lumpur (l. to Golubev).

The 28-year-old Ferrer has come into his best form at just the right time as he also looks to clinch one of the five remaining berths at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. This year’s Acapulco champion is currently No. 8 in the year-to-date ATP Rankings and is hoping to feature in the eight-man field at the season finale for the second time, after finishing runner-up to Roger Federer in 2007.

Ferrer defeats Bellucci 76 63. Next up Soderling. Out of the top 5, I'm glad it's the Sod that he meets. Sod is the weakest mentally and David could best him in three. Can't tell you how badly I want this for David.

David lost the final 7-5 6-4 :awww:

Post match interview by David: "I fought a lot, but today it was impossible to beat Andy. He’s a very good player and person. I didn't serve really good this match, also because Andy received very well and I had to play closer to the lines. Andy was better than me in the second set. Maybe in the first set I had my chances. [But] I played so bad this game [at 5-5]. After I had a long time serving very bad. Anyway, is difficult to beat Andy in these moments. He is playing with [a lot of] confidence.

"I enjoyed the week a lot. Here in Shanghai, I’ve had the best moments of my career; I reached the final [of the Tennis Masters Cup] in 2007 and again this year."

Poor Ferru, why can't he win a single MS ? If Robredo, Berdych, Davydenko, Ljubicic won one why not him ? It's really unfair and weird

I agree. Ferru is such a tough competitor. I am not a big fan of Murray. He seems to have no joy in his game. David is tough and never gives up. I hope someday he wins a Master's 1000 event.

Davydenko is a good player, he deserves masters titles ;) But I really want David to win one  He gets unlucky that he constantly makes finals where he has to face Rafa (Rome, Monte Carlo)

Unfortunately David is a notch below the top 4 in terms of on court weaponry. I never thought he'd beat Murray unless AM was seriously off his game. I do hope that David will win some matches at the year end finals. I'm so proud that he's made it again. What an honor for him and well-deserved.
