D'Joke used the same pattern against Nando like in their previous meeting in New York :o

3rd set - Verdasco hope that his FH CC will trouble Djokovic BH vanished into thin air cause Djokovic was very quickly moving the rallies to his FH side by DTLs and then repeatedly producing winners hitting behind Nandos back on his backhand side. A bit different tactics from their USO match but with same effect. Classical brain over matter.

It's in the bag even if he doesn't win tomorrow. Murray pulled out of Shaghai, losing 1000 points (from Madrid that week), whereas Nole will only lose 90 going into Shanghai. Del Pony will be about 1000 points behind Nole going into Shanghai.

Congrats Nole on regaining your #3 ranking barring some catastrophe! :worship::D

This was just copy/paste from brand new Novak-Fer comment on Atptour.com. What about last year's Bangkok finals and Novak' points?

I'm fairly new here. Does "Copy/Paste" mean "the same thing is being said at..." or are you accusing me of actually copying something from elsewhere? Someone else used the term to me a few weeks ago and they meant the former of the two choices. I just want to be clear on this. I wrote those sentences with my own head and my own hand. I haven't visited "Atptour.com" ever to my knowledge.

Yea, I know it doesn't imply he will be #3 at the end of the year. He will just regain the #3 ranking for the first time since he lost it to Murray. I thought that is what your post was saying too.

So Atp.com is right. Novak would be 3rd on monday only if he reach finals. But on 26. of october he'll be 3rd? I'm relying on >

Updated after Djokovic has reached this weeks Semi

Djokovic 7,420 7,270 7,270

I don't think so. Nole won't be third until Murray loses his points from Madrid last year, so after Shanghai, on the 19th November. However, if he doesn't get to the final in Beijing, he won't be third until the week after, the 26th.

(I think I'm right ...):)

I can't "Multi-Quote" this message. My button is greyed out. Anyone else ever experience this?

Well, I used Steve G Tennis at http://www.stevegtennis.com/ to work it all out. If you click on "2009 Rankings" link, you will see that Nole is trailing Andy by 1060 points entering this week. If you click on "Ranking Points Table" link you will see that Nole has already earned 180 points for making it to the semis. So he makes up 180 pts (at least, he could make 300 pts or 500 pts if he wins) so far.

If you click on the "Schedule of Points" link, and then click "Go to this week" link at the top, you'll note that neither Nole nor Andy played in the tournaments where points are falling off this week from last year (Moscow, Stockholm, and Vienna). So as of today, Nole is 880 points behind Andy if he wins no more matches.

Ok, if you scroll down to the week ending 10/19, and then click on "Madrid" on "Tournaments to fall off from last year", you'll note Nole and Andy both played Madrid. Andy won it, so he will be losing 1000 points on the week ending 10/19. The China Open is an ATP500 and the winner gets 500 points. Shanghai is a Masters and the winner is awarded 1000 points (check the "Ranking Points Table" link again for validation). Since Andy has withdrawn from the Shanghai Masters, he will lose 1000 points on 10/19. Nole lost in the R16 in Madrid last year earning him only 90 points from that tournament. He may lose 90 points if that is one of his "Best 18 stats" (there is a link to that on Steve G web site too). I don't see an update on it, but let's assume Nole will have -90 points regardless of his outcome in Shanghai.

Murray is currently 880 points ahead, remember. If you add 90 points to Andy's lead, he is 970 points ahead. When he loses 1000 points at the end of week 10/19, Nole will be up by 30 points even if he doesn't win another match the next two weeks. I'm sure he will, so he will probably have a pretty sizable buffer after Shanghai.

My calculations must be wrong somehow. All the news articles are stating Nole needs to beat Soderling to secure the #3 ranking. No matter. I'm sure he'll make up the difference in the early rounds of Shanghai anyway even if he doesn't win tomorrow. The great news is that he lost the #3 ranking in May, and he should get it back, even if only for a short while, this month. I think he is playing well enough to get it back and keep it for awhile.

I'm thinking one dimensional either got lost in the translation, or you and a brick have similar IQs.

Never any love for Fernando.

I just hope his foot holds up for the remainder of the season and he can put up some solid results in his few events before he calls it a season. Also I hope he can produce at the Aussie Open because his result next year will surely reflect what kind of year he will have overall imo!
