Mikhail Youzhny is the hero of the day. Thank you Colonol, for sending this pusher home.

TBH this version of Youzhny is Top 20 quality....but the dude just isn't consistent enough.

Youzhny is a genius.

Lol, no doubt. Dude was consistently hitting pretty nice angles crosscourt with the forehand. I even saw him run away from a forehand so he could slice a backhand(I LOLed at that, who does that?). Nice dropshots at smart moments, knocking the backhand down the line when he needed to.

There is nothing that suggests to me that Simon is a smarter player than Youzhny...except maybe the fact that he hasn't banged his tennis racket on his head.

Simon saved two matchpoints serving at 4/5 in the second, another one at 5/6 and two more at 3/5 in the third. Good on Youzhny to finish it on his first matchpoint on serve with an ace.

Showing some mental fortitude after missed chances. I hope this is a sign for things to come from Youzhny... it's looking good at the moment.

If only Simon played like he did in the end of the 2nd set and the 3rd every day people wouldn't hate him that much.. Much better attacking play today.

But :bounce: Misha! Excellently played.

Oh and I think Misha's a much better "chess" tennis player than Simon :o. His points were very well constructed today. :yeah:

Like both of them, tho glad Youzhny won as it might he'll be easier for Berdych.

This result pleases me, because now Simon has very little chance of getting to London. If he'd got there I had promised to give away a ticket.

Great, Colonel!:yeah: It's hilarious how many people on this board have no respect for the chess masters.

Yeah, no chance. If he wins Lyon, makes the final of Valencia, plus semis of Shanghai or Paris, he'd still need Gonzo/Sod/Davy/Tsonga to all have a complete collapse the rest of the season.

Nice one Misha. He showed balls at some point instead of pushing the ball like others used to do.
100% well-deserved.
