10 footfaults at least. Shit serving from both, though Gaudio got better in that regard, a low base he was coming from.

From the ground it was quite a good match, Gaudio exposed Chela's limitations and moved him around very well. His defensive skills were excellent today as well.

Dedicated to Ad Wim, who said he should never have got a WC to this event.

As far as I know, no WC..

And while its nice to see Gaston win, what is this has been doing in challengers, its sad..what other grand slam champions ended their careers with this embarrassment?

He´d more or less retired, and then he was plagued by injuries, so when he decided he missed playing he had to start again from scratch (literally, he was ranked 1000!). So there´s nothing embarrassing in that. All the more merit for his fighting spirit!

Gasty career didnt end yet
playing at this level he can beat top50-100 players by sure.

the hard task will be to maintain it. motivation and mental are important on this

do u consider playing challengers is an embarrasment?

Totally agree...I just watched a video of his match against Nadal at Stuttgart in 2005...it wasn't exactly the closest match but I still loved watching the Gaudio backhands, even the forehands

didn't Agassi play challengers in one point of his career after he became a GS champion?

it's not an embarrassment to play challengers, people seem to think that getting to the challenger level is super easy and it's not, ask any aspiring player about it, futures and challengers are hard, pro players aren't made overnight and they all have to sweat a lot and pay their dues on the lower tier tournaments before they get success and some lose their points and have to start again from scratch

Agassi was down in the 140s and yes he played challengers after he won Slams.

Considering Gaudio needs match practice, he can stay in South America play on the clay for the rest of the season. He has start from there, can't expect to be winning matches at the top level, when he hasn't been consistently winning them at a lower level.

spot on AJ, it's better to play and get match practise on a lower level and build rhythm and confidence from there than get smashed in higher tournaments every single time

Here is thing I mentioned about the Ad Wim whining. Gaudio had a WC, but as FibeR said, didn't need it as Cuevas withdrew.

I mean he beat Junquiera at Barcelona this year, his only win on the main tour. From the ground he is hitting very well, but serving like he did today for him, he'd be getting smashed. He never had a big serve, but usually got a high enough percentage of the 1st ones in, so he can play his game.

Fun final against Zeballos, both are coached by the same guy Lombardo, who won't be in the stands.
