No Ivan, he is not the next big thing.

There is some info about him in the Challenger threads, from the people who have watched him.

De Bakker, Dolgopolov Jr have had better records this season alone.

Dolgopolov Jr isn't a wonderkid. Hajek started the season at 460s and is now 114.

It's a good run, but there have been plenty of others this season.

Says coming from a guy that thinks Boredo is one of the top 10 players of all time on clay.

Ungur
Zeballos
Hajek
De Bakker
Dolgopolov Jr

All of the above have had great runs this season and as Ivan said it deserves to be acknowledged.

You didn't whine, when you were biting the pillow last night.

Ungur doesn't look old either and Romania needs some more players stepping up, now Pavel has retired.

Dolgopolov looked like a real talent against Murray in a DC tie a few years ago, surprised he hasn't kicked on and made the top 100.

Snowwy, your tennis knowledge you can fit onto a postage stamp fold it into quarters and still have space left over.

Could you find where I said that? That'd be cool, I'd like to see that..

And if I did say that, which I didn't what does that have to do with Unger, you seem to be off-topic and clueless again..

Again, you seem slightly off-topic, why don't you post something useful, as Ivan ask for, instead of telling him he's not the next goat..yeah, that's real useful, shows a wealth of knowledge by you.

Who cares? If he's not threatening for slams than he is useless player and his success should be absolutely ignored.

thats abit of a mainstream type comment.

its good to dig under the surface, its not all about the glitz and glammer of rafa, roger, muzza, JMDP and Joker.

Bahaha :)

It's cool when players like this get their own thread in GM, there is no need for people to come into them and start posting how they shouldn't have a thread, or there are more deserving players.

Why am I sour? Ungur deserved to win, he is having a run at the moment, like the others mentioned in this thread.

Now thats what I wanna to see!! overrated Luczak lose with big talent from Romania.

When I look on sports from Romania they have very, very good mentality it's almost like Serbians, Croatians imm, they are training very hard and don't have staff like Americans or Germans it's really pure for me. Last week's, maybe months show up Copil and Ungur they will fast go the first #100 imo.

Tomic and Dimitrov are wonderkids, Dolgopolov Jr isn't overrated and deemed as a wonderkid.

I realized about this guy week some weeks ago. U can see his name in a a lot of europeans clay challengers during the last weeks

i think he had some similars streaks (not so much like this year) during the last 2-3 years and then "disappear" talking about results, to appear again
never entered to ATP Level yet  :o:

I believe he was hurt last September til this March which is about 6 months and it took him a while to start playing well again this year.

Dolgo was considered a wonderkid a few years ago. Now he is having sort of his second youth.

i think this guy is an outstanding prospect due to the similarity of a famous c-grade porn star name from the film the Big Lebowski - Karl Hungus...

enormous potential...

Overrated Luczak? The story of Luczak's career is more that he isn't rated at all, eternally grinding it out in Challengers and, at some points, in low-level ATPs.

That's exactly where Ungur's career should be heading, provided that he is fit. He's a good player on clay, but I don't see it translating very well to other surfaces. His fighting spirit comes out best on the dirt, while his body won't cope well with hardcourts. He should be able to crack the Top 100 with his results on clay, but he won't stay there for very long and won't equal Luczak's achievements.

That would be from me! The one who first introduced his success:wavey::wavey:

Dolgopolov Jr, De Bakker, Hajek are other players who have had this type of success. But this kid has been just unstoppable these past few tourneys. He may have something much more special than those other guys. We will see if he gets tired and folds and can keep making semis and finals- unlike those other 3 guys.

You are hardly the one who introduced his success; people following Challengers will have noticed, and people that have been following for a longer period would already know Ungur's potential on clay, as he had some outstanding results a couple of years back.

He's not a kid :ignore:

And Dolgopolov and De Bakker have had success by beating better players overall.
