USO Q2: Bellucci vs. Dimitrov-who wins?

this match must be the most interesting of all the men's qualies at this year's USO. The other guys in qualifying must all be very happy that only one of these guys will advance to rd3, as both talented youngsters are strong candidates to reach the main draw.

Whoever is at the USO watching qualies this week-go to this one! here's your popcorn match! :p

So who wins?

that bothers me as well:rolleyes: Isn't main draw cut-off used to be arround 100 spot in the rankings usually?

Hum tough call... Id like to see what Grisha is capable of in the main draw, so I'll go with Dimitrov.

Not sure to be hoenst, i know he had a very bad ranking until he claimed a challenger and then won an ATP title shortly after, he may have been too low on the entry list, however his ranking has really risen since. Not sure to be honest.

Anyway Bellucci will most likely take this in 2 sets, his serve can be more dangerous than Grigors on these courts and he has the much more powerful groundshots so i expect him to win for sure.

YOu are right tumbak, he is trying too much

Btw, that is true, he is wildcarded into almost every tournament where he loses R1 or R1.

Thomaz in 2 sets... it´s a shame he isn´t in the main draw, especially with his ranking, he should have been awarded a Wild Card!

Anyway, he´ll get to the maindraw either way

As Scoop Malinowski writes in his US Open Qualifying post, this guy, Grigor Dmitrov, is the real deal.

I'd say he's the best 18-yr old I've ever seen play. The speed — foot and racquet — agility, grace, serve are all amazing. And that's the beauty of the qualis because if this guy qualifies, his matches next week will be mobbed. Dmitrov looks like a carbon copy of Federer.

The only thing I didn't see him do yesterday was volley as he rarely ventured forward, but I'm pretty dang sure he can volley real well, too. If you've never seen this guy play, the first match you go to at the Open should be his. You'll shake your head at how good and focused he is.

And Scoop didn't tell you, this lady approached him yesterday thinking he was Vince Spadea and asked him for an autograph.

Bellucci has to play qualifying because his ranking wasn't high enough at the time of entry. Tournament entry is determined by ranking 6 weeks before the start of an event and Bellucci was only ranked 117 at this time.

I remember that del Potro couldn't play the Toronto and Cincinnati Masters last year for the same reason.

How is he the best 18 year old ever to play tennis... There are people that won actually Grand Slams at that age, and many more with atp tournaments, take it easy, if he is really the best then he should prove it on court, I agree he has beautiful game, but that doesnt mean the best.
