Not sure, but I know for certain Haas will never be a favourite. (as if Haas will ever be a favourite for even an ATP250, that's how big of a joke he is)

Roger is the favorite at the USO regardless of his match with Nole.
Any player getting to the finals of the AO and then winning the French and Wimby should be the favorite at the USO--nevermind Roger is the defending champion.

How can anybody say Roger isn't the favorite in any final, really?

Hmmmmmm, interesting. Haas in his 30s and currently number 21 in the world is a joke. What on

earth is your criteria of not being a joke..top 10?? And how would you match up to haas in a match.

Keep your day job and stop making ridiculous statements about the very best players in the world.

I don't know why you guys are being sarcastic? This is MTF and he asked a legitimate question. People do have a different opinions day to day depending who wins what before USO. Last year, some MTF members gave Roger 0 chances after losing early in both Master Series events before the USO and guess who was holding the trophy at the end!:p I think sometimes it's more about match-up then form, so I will wait for the draw. But I can tell you that much, Fed is on my top 2 because how can you discount a person that's the 5 time defending champion.

We are being sarcastic because the OP was being sarcastic??
But What´s sarcasm in a sarcastic thread at all? To make serious post?

Roger is ALWAYS the favorite at the US Open, no one has taken him to 5 sets in a final in NY and he has won in straights the last two years ;)

2004 Lleyton Hewitt 6–0, 7–6(3), 6–0
2005 Andre Agassi 6–3, 2–6, 7–6(1), 6–1
2006 Andy Roddick 6–2, 4–6, 7–5, 6–1
2007 Novak Djokovic 7–6(4), 7–6(2), 6–4
2008 Andy Murray 6–2, 7–5, 6–2

In 2004. P. McEnroe told us that surface is too fast for Fed as he needs more time to set up his shots. He said that Fed was more likely to win RG than the US Open.

Federer has to be the favorite -

Nadal - Has never been past the semi finals at the US Open, has got heavily beaten by Potro and Djokovic two other contenders and the surface does not really suit his game all that much.

Djokovic - Played awesome agaisnt Nadal yesterday but has not won a masters series or Slam all season and therefore will not be favorite.

Murray - Never won a grand slam and plays way too passive in the big matches to win the US Open unless he takes the ball on more.

Federer - Has won the US Open the last 5 years, won the last 2 grand slams and if he beats Novak tommorow has won all previous meetings agaisnt Novak, Murray and Nadal, also has never lost to any of those three at the US Open, so he has to be favorite obviously.

Funny you should mention Ginepri...
I can see a bit of a bandwagon forming for him.
I'll support the Ginepri for USO campaign.
But only if he agrees to play the finals shirtless.

Roger "Drop Shot" Federer is always the favorite.

:)

That's right.. the "gooch" might be looming. Simon Reed and Johnny Mac(??) might be picking... Murray! :retard: We all might have our own personal favorites.

But lest we forget "the drop-shot" El Maestro, GOAT Roger Federer, esq. is always the favorite in any tournament he enters--grand slam or not this year and MOST years as a matter of fact. That's just the way it is.

Safin. For old time's sake.

Oh man, wouldn't that be a great sports story? Player in his final season, with his best years behind him, and a career that could have been so much better, and he goes on and wins a grand slam.

I think that is just as likely as James Blake winning a calendar slam, but it would be nice to see.

As if it's so hard to see...

Roddick is unbeatable when he can see the ball at night.
Del Potro is unbeatable when he isn't tired.
Nadal is unbeatable when he isn't injured.
Djokovic is unbeatable in a MS hard court match against Nadal post-2007.
Murray is unbeatable when his opponent isn't willing to hit him right off the court.
Davydenko is unbeatable when he isn't fixing matches.
Simon is unbeatable over best of three sets against Federer.
Verdasco is unbeatable in the love thy self department.
Tsonga is unbeatable when he doesn't choke on stupid drop shots.
Gonzalez is unbeatable when he saves MP with the frame of his racquet.

And finally...

Federer himself is unbeatable when he actually cares about the result.

And folks, ol' Roger certainly cares about six in a row so he'd still be the favorite even if he hadn't won a single tournament all year.

Oh, and The Gooch is just unbeatable. Period. But his generosity and compassion are second to none, King Oscar included.

Because Federer, the favourite for the US Open, pretty much dispatched Murray with ease.

That's why it's fickle. Last week people were writing off Federer because he blew a 5-1 lead against Tsonga.

Now he's the favorite by a landslide because of one match against Murray where Murray didn't even play that well?

Gotta agree with that. Still, regardless of how he did in these last two TMS, you know Fed is always something different in slams. I think that's why you cann't ever totally write him off when it comes to Slams.
