Rafa made some really spectacular shots and served pretty well.

Overall good match. Wish berdych would have played a little bit better.

The best Nadal's match since he returned after injury. Berdych was surprisingly well motivated.

Nadal puts another roaster to the sword. :p

Berdmug threw the kitchen sink at Nadal late in the second set and still couldn't break.

 at Nadal's overreaction as usual.

He does over-react to a lot of things, but you have to remember that he had what some thought might be a career destroying injury and he has managed to find his game again. That's definitely something to be happy about.

Looks like this guy is back at full force. Tomas is going to have nightmares about those FH passes, he did not even played badly, but this Nadal was too much for him. From the level displayed today Nadal left the strongest impression and if he continue to play like this he will be the most serious contender to win the whole thing.

The only disappointing thing is he doesn't get to play Federer in the semi, and Murray will probably not allow Federer to play the final :(

Don't worry.. Burrow would rather see a player smash racquets and throw tantrums than to celebrate, which is why he talks about Safin all time.

Lovely, entertaining, great match!!! :yeah:

Well, said it yesterday already - Rafa is BAAAAACCCCKKKK!
A big, huge :ras: to anyone still claiming his knees aren't fine or anything the like.
Absolutely the prime candidate to make it to the finals, after having watched the 'PONG'-performance between Djoko and Simon. I know on whom my money will be tomorrow...
Congrats, Rafke! :hatoff:

Kudos to Berdych just the same - he didn't fold, didn't choke like I expected him to do after losing his first serve game in the first set as badly as he did. In stead, continued to try and give his best. Unfortunately his 1st serve went MIA, whereas Rafa's was immaculate.

Thanks to both gentlemen for a great match of TENNIS! :worship:

Well, well, well, what do you know? Everything going fine and according to plan.

However, I will only consider Rafa to be really back when he wins (or at least loses a very close match) against one of the other big 4. And I'm not quite sure Djoko belongs in that group right now (don´t get me wrong, I'm positive Djoko is one of the four, but perhaps not right now). Anyway, whatever happens this weekend, it's the 5-setters in Flushing Meadows that will give me the final answer on Rafa's form.

For now, I´ll simply celebrate this win here in Mallorca, the lion´s den.

(BTW, this win means Rafa won´t lose any points in Cinci, so Murray has to win another two matches just to defend his meagre 565 point lead).

The ranking means a lot to Murray, he can have it and Nadal can have both hardcourt slams this year, no problemo.

Except the Cinci 08 points came off 2 weeks ago.

So, no. Everyone is only adding points this week.

Djokovic wouldn't be any tougher than Del Potro. And Nadal led Del Potro 5-2 in the breaker, and now Nadal is looking sharper than he was then.

Good win for Rafa. He passed well, served well, and moved Berdych around a lot which worked well in his favor. He'll need to play even better if he wants to beat Djokovic though, with a serious improvement needed with his return of serve 'cause last year, Novak was killing him off both sides from anything that floated or dropped short.

Im watching re-run now. tv guy just mentioned Tomas' height and weight 1.96 m; 90 kg. now I knew he was a big lad but not this big. its amazing ainit? his lack of movement does come as a result of his size but I feel he can do something about it since he is a evenly distributed, kinda. I mean he is good athlete and has good patches of fine court coverage. just the brains, just the brains. If he could "fix" that, he could really trash left and right. thing is there is some chance for that... cause as they say, people most often are what they look like, and there is a bit of a ruthless streak in his face. perhaps in a few years....

Rafa looks to be right on schedule for peaking at the U.S. Open. Regardless of what happens today, he is ready. Not at his peak, but close enough to be ready for his best shot (depending on the draw) he's had ever at the Open.

Aggressive hardcourt tennis...not running around the backhand...and attempting to aggressively return second serves on the baseline. Add the fire and passion, and you have one of the clear favorites to win the Open.

career destroying injury that the match before his break was just the same as usual and the break was only for a couple of months, yes, really career threatening.

He does this ALL the time, he always has these overreacting celebrations, it's really quite funny.
