Easy win for Murray. Murray will probably cruise so easily in the 1st that boredom will make him lose the 2nd. He will then school Fed in the 3rd.

I think Federer will get this one but I don't think it'll be a pretty match.

People always assume that just because something has been one way in the past it'll never been any other way. Murray's recent successes over 3 sets over Murray aren't in any way proof that Federer can't win one.

WWW? No idea if they are both near their current best, but if Murray plays like today, I can see a straight sets win for Federer. But I doubt that he will play 2 days in a row like that. However, I am sure that it will be a fun match to watch and the thread about it afterward will be even funnier. I am going to enjoy it whatever the outcome will be. :yeah:

I think Muzza actually has a lot of respect for Fed. Don't have much proof but I remember Muzza calling Fed the GOAT and saying other nice things after the USO final and that he apparently moulded his serve around Fed's. I think those are pretty telling signs of respect. I'm sure there are articles out there where Murray has talked about Federer in a positive light but I just can't be bothered to look it up. :p :o

If not, Andy Murray in three.

I'm going say Roger in three, just for the heck of it!

I don't like how people are writing of Roger after all he's accomplished!

But.. then again.. Andy Murray has a shot--well he knows how to beat El Maestro (the GOAT aka "dropshot").

Murray had a lot of respect for Fed, yes. He use to suck up to Fed. Then one day, bitchy Fed started to hand out backhanded remarks about Murray. Murray is having none of it and they are buddy's no longer. :tears: Pretty much like Fed and Djoko.

Well in my opinion this result, whichever way it goes, means nothing for the USO. Fed barely gives an arse about these non-slam tournaments these days & yet always steps up during slams so we can pretty much ignore his performances during non-slam events now, Muzza has played a lot of tennis recently & is very good at these 3 set matches & actually cares about winning titles like these & yet hasn't really proven himself consistently at the highest level in the slams as of yet (though I expect him to do very well this USO).

But yeah, Muzza will win simply because he actually cares about this tournament & plays 3 set matches well which quite frankly Fed does not do too often these days. Come New York though I'd expect a different result :p

I honestly don't know tbh. We all know that Muzza in good form (finding right balance between defence and attack) is a horrible match-up for Federer...but playing ridiculously passive tennis surely shouldn't get the job done (unless Federer is horrible). For instance, what has Robredo achieved against Federer before?

This should be a good court for Federer to attack anything landing short, with good effect. Also in his favour is the fact that Muzza could be feeling a little fatigued from the last 10 days...mentally more than anything.

Also an opportunity for Federer to make a 'statement' tomorrow, so I'll be surprised if he isn't up to the challenge. Would be nice from his point of view to beat one of the front-runners to the US Open title...the early rounds probably didn't interest him so much.

Definitely needs to serve well though, and the wind is likely to hamper him as much as it would for Muzza.

For the sake of a vote, I'll side with Federer (as the presumed underdog). :p

Who cares?? Mug tournament anyway.

God I'm sick of people using that word here. How is this a "mug tournament"? Yes it's in the midwest of the USA (aka the 4th layer of hell) but still, all the top players are there and it's a 1000 Series event, which are the biggest tournaments the ATP runs. By your logic I guess only the slams matter - which begs the question why are you even here posting and following these matches at all?

Truth MrsFedex?

1) Roger was hated for a long time by many for being too good. He's not too good anymore. Ergo he's lost some haters.

2) As you said to me before, Murray has a LOT of haters.

3) Roger should statistically win...ergo he is the favourite.

All combined make him lead the poll....just.

50/50. Murray matches up reasonably well with Federer and he actually tries in TMS events. He also has the fitness for a 3 set match more than a 5 setter. In theory, Murray should be the favorite, but it really is hard to bet against Federer.

50/50.

I'd like to see Federer pull out a win here, but the outcome of tomorrow's match has no bearing whatsoever on what will happen in USO (imo), so I'm not reading too much into the result of this match. Even if Murray won 6/0, 6/0 tomorrow, I'd still place my money on Fed to beat him in the US Open, were they to face off again there. Last year Fed lost to Simon in his opening match in Toronto, then Karlovic in 3rd rd of Cincy, so I'll gather he's actually pretty satisfied with what he has achieved the last two weeks points-wise, even if he hasn't exactly played lights out tennis.

Too bad they can't beat each other :p don't like either of them. Murray losing a set to the weakest of the 8 quarter-finalists isn't a good sign and Federer doesn't care much about AMS but since it will be Murray on the other side of the net he may show up. Whoever wins I'll be definitely rooting for his opponent in the final.

Not sure about this one, Roger'a performance at the slams is totally different as compared to these smaller events. In these tournaments, I question his motivation. Because if he doesn't play his best game, Murray will clinch this one (but either way it will be a three setter).

I would love to see Federer bring out his best game and take it to Murray. That would be a feast. :D

Fed just tends to play at a level notch below his Grand Slam level at Masters Series tournaments, and Murray is the form player.
