Federer wins the battle to lose to Any Murray in the semi-final. Cannot see troubling Murray.

Easy.

Too many errors. Murray will win comfortably.

Good enough from Roger

Hard to judge given how Hewitt was struggling with movement it didn't feel like a competitive match really.

I don't write Federer off tomorrow at all.

good tournament Fed, time to focus on USO now.

i want the agressive federer who attacks the second serve!

Fed's 13th consecutive win against Hewitt and Goodall mentioned that it was Fed's 200th win at MS level.

Murray's plan tomorrow: Serve well, serve to Fed's FH, grind Fed down, attack his backhand, attack his backhand, attack his backhand, attack his backhand, attack his backhand. Then when the rally gets long attack his forehand and let Fed explode on that side.

I hope Lleytons knee will be better for USO. He would have probably lose this match even if he was fully fit, but still a good week for him, reaching a seeding position for USO.

Good enough from Fed to defeat Hewitt who seemed to struggling with his knee. Doubt this level of play will be enough for Fed to defeat Murray though:shrug:

I don't write Federer off tomorrow at all.

Neither do I. Even if Feds is not quite there yet, his playing was much better today than in his former matches - less shanks and nettings at least.
Of course, very hard to draw any conclusion from this match, as Hewitt was obviously struggling with his knee condition, hence his very poor movement. He was a sitting duck most of the time, really.

As for the match tomorrow, I wouldn't at all mind the 'First Set Against Benneteau-version' of Murray appearing there. In that case, Feds might well have a chance, still. Not counting on that to happen, though. :)

Congrats, Feds! :hatoff: and get back fully fit for the USO, Hewitt!

The important thing is ROger gained more points! I see him winning over murray tomorrow it's a good scare tactic before the slam. then again i don't expect much from the mighty fed on TMS anymore.

Rest up Lleyton, that knee seems really troublesome. Been a good week, will be seeded for New Yoek which will be nice.

I agree, Murray is definitely the big favorite to win tomorrow verse Master Series Federer.

Another outrageously boring match from Cincinnati. Only slightly better than the match that came before it. Fed was barely trying and still won 3 and 4.

Roger won more points than last year and got match practise, so I guess it was a good US Open series for him :yeah:

Huge favorite. Don't bet the house, but perhaps all of the furniture, on Murray.

People are really quick to write Federer off. An exhausted Benneteau took a set off Murray, but Fed will be disposed of easily. Murray may have a good h2h against Fed, but most of their matches went to a deciding set. Granted, Fed's been playing like shit for the last two weeks, but it's not as if Murray hasn't shown any weaknesses either. Winning tournaments back-to-back is a challenge for anyone, Federer and Nadal in their heyday included. Murray may be feeling a tad mentally fatigued. So no, I see little reason to expect a walkover win, even if I too regard Murray as the favorite to come through triumphant.

Finally a good show from the master, if he plays his serves like he did in this game then he will dominate murray, but he dominates everyone when hes on his game. If B-grade fed shows up to the semi he still has a chance but if shit Fed shows up (ie third round first set) Murray will royally F*** him up.

As for this tourney, hes 'won' it already because hes gaining points while Murray will have to reach the final(?) to break even.

Your right if the mighty benneteau troubled murray than the number one player and defending us open ,french and wimbledon champion has NO chance.

FH looking good for stretches, movement and timing looking better, which is a big encouragement for USO. Still looks disinterested at times, but that can be forgiven after his summer. And more points, meaning that he continues to chip away at Sampras' weeks at #1.

Three pusher matches today.

Will we finally see some aggressive tennis in the quarterfinals from the surprise Berdych? Hope so, especially for the bored paying fans in Cincy who want some excitement.

Federer did just enough to beat a clearly struggling Hewitt who really didn't look comfortable with his movement and played no where near his best.

Rogers forehand was his weakness, no surprise.

Bargearse
08-22-2009, 07:54 AM
Federer isn't playing anywhere near as well as he needs to. 49% of first serves in won't get the job done against the Pusher. Even die hard Fed fans already writing him off and looking toward the US Open.

Too easy for Federer. Only chance that Lleyton had was at 1-0*, second set, when he led 30-00* on Fed's serve.
Federer leads now 15-7 against Hewitt, last 13 encounters won by Rogie.
