Who will be next Roger Federer?

Nadal, Muarry, Djok, Del.P or other young guys

Seriously, I think that Nadal would win more than 10 GS and 20 Masters to break Andre's Record 17.

and Murray will also win 7 or 8 GS and 12 Masters

Djok? remain a question

Del.P may win 4 or 5 GS but still uncertain.

other names so far. I like Monfils and Tsonga whom may break into Top 5 next year, but still far away from No 1.

Cilic is another young guy who will have a great future.

Roger Federer (new) is the son of Charlene Federer.
Born in 1st April 2034, he became a famous loan shark that lost every family money at the Pequim crack in 2078.

That's what many though about Sampras only 7 years ago. Im not saying that the next Federer is coming in 7 years but don't assume it will take forever. I doubt tennis would be in a period of parity for the rest of our lives.

We'll only know in a few years. Murray would def be the first candidate, followed by Nole. If he can win 40 titles including 10 slams in a 3 year 8 month period like Federer did(June 2003-February 2007), then sure he will be known then as "the next Federer". Until that unlikely scenario happens, there is only one Roger Federer.

I agree, taking an active player to become the next Federer is more than a bold statement.

There is only one Federer and there will never be another Federer.

IMO Del Potro can win only 1 Grand Slam (US Open most likely); Cilic should be happy reaching one Grand Slam semifinal. Always tough to predict potential Grand Slam winners without a knowledge how will develop today's teenagers in next decade...

Andrew Murray. If you ask. Could be. A shadow of the greatest. And. No. One. Else. Has come near. Period.

None of the new crop. Maybe there's some hotshop around 16 who will put all the parts together.

I don't see anyone of this current crop dominating like Roger or Pete.

Don't get me wrong, I think they are very talented players. But to me they are closer in talent to each other.

I mean for so long it was Roger.. then everybody else. I don't think there will be that kind of dominance in this particular era. I think it will more competitive and the grand slams wins will be more evenly won--sort of like pre-Sampras, meaning I don't think either Roger's or Pete's grand slam record will be challenged. For sure, they'll be somebody who will win a majority of slams.

Of course, Rafa has already made a run on clay. I just don't think Rafa can physically handle dominating like Roger. Plus, I don't think Rafa enjoys being the front-runner or #1 necessarily. To me, Rafa's game just takes too much out of him physically to have the same kind of run over the long-term even with his success on clay.

i used to think that there would be no successor to sampras... i thought it would be too hard...

now i know better... probably will be a guy come along soon who wins a slam every year from 17 years of age through to 35 or something... most likely a distant blood relative of ken rosewall...

No one. Especially when the tennis he playes concerned. It's an art.

btw...there is a guy who's single-backhand is amazing...named Richard...but strangely, that sounds like several years ago...
No matter what the fuck happen on you, come back strong Gasquet. Good luck.

we already have a new Roger - GriGOAT Dimitrov is like a carbon copy of Fed, kid only needs time to start dominating

I would wager that it will take a while. It happened very soon from Sampras to Federer, but I just think that Federer has set the bar slightly higher than before. No one has ever been as dominant as Federer. And this isnt like the 100m record. The level of dominance of the best player does not just keep getting greater and greater as the years go by. There was as much of a chance of a player being that dominant 30 years ago as there is that a player will be that dominant 10 years from now. The fact that it has only happened once in the Open Era tells me that it will be a while for it to happen again.

murray. he'll dominate once he gets his first big one. probably has more 'touch' than federer and his backhand is a beaut. he has chance 3/4 majors per year.

wow.... So these guys together will win 23 slams. Next six years is booked then!

I agree with Nadals prediction. Others are just hype thus far.

One of Roger's daughters, maybe both, has been born with two sets of equipment (Caster Semenya style), and he/she shall grow up and spend his/her youth gowned in pink inviting teddy bears to tea parties, but shall one day make the decision to convert to the superior gender and adopt a suitable name, that of her father, Roger.

So there you have it, the next Roger Federer has already been born, but doesn't know it yet.

Do you mean the next player to win as many Majors as Federer?

Out of the current lot, I definitely think Nadal has the best chance.

People have said that Dimitrov (18) is better than Federer at the same age, and Boluda Purkiss (16) is better than Nadal at the same age.

I'm not sure we'll see someone else breaks Roger's GS record, I know lots of people here are saying that they were thinking the same thing about sampras just a few years ago, i allways thought that someone would beat him though, but i see Roger getting to 18 if not 20 GS, and with the competition getting tougher and tougher, i don't think i'll be alive when or if his record is broken!

Hewitt has done way better (Age 20) than Federer at the same age. but what happened next? we all knew it.

15 Majors -------- tough, tough, tough:crazy::smoke:

But He (the New No 1) has to win consistent GS titles as Federer done and stay at No 1 for least 3 years.
