Way to go Gilles. Don't think Davydenko wanted any part of this match, he was horrible. I did notice alot of shotty line calls also. But Gilles got it done and thats what matters.

IMO Tsonga with his indoor skills is almost certain in London. After US Open he probably will play 4 or 5 indoor tournaments to secure his spot easily.

I'm glad that he didn't implode after losing the first set, he was so mad after that TB. Good job Gilles for hanging in there to take it. Now Nole is next, winnable since Nole isn't in his right mind either lately.

From what I saw, Denko was quite impatient with his shots today. He was pretty much trying to hit winners from awkward positions.

Simon had only 1 winner on second set, but 18 overall. Simon was pushing more than he has been lately in this match, but it was a good tactic, because Davydenko was making A LOT of unforced erros. Good to see Simon through! :D Good luck against Djokovic now! ;)

Sigh. Glad I decided not to watch this match. Nothing against Simon but Davydenko beats himself with his unforced errors and trying to force shots, he doesn't even need an opponent when he plays like this. Which is sad because when he's playing well it's beautiful.:drool:

Funny match, Davydenko in the first set made so many US'e that he usually makes per tournament 28 and he still won that set. :eek: The more errors he was making more aggressive he was becoming hitting either UE's or winners. Simon was extremely passive forcing something like 1 error from Denko in the first and 2 in the second set, everything else was the did from the Russian. I didn't watch the third so I can't comment, but I suspect it went similar like previous 2. Both were extremely nervous on court, yelling, cursing. Gilles even tried to break his racquet, hit em once on the ground and once from the net pillar and he only managed to scrap the paint on the frame. :lol: No game-plans from either of them, Davydenko just tried to end the rally with every shot, Simon just tried to stay in it, retrieving safely mostly to the middle of the court.

Hope Gilles does better tomorrow.

watched most of this. simon should have won the 1st. davy was a mess and was lucky simon was having a total spaz whenever he went infront.
