Expected result from the steady Djokovic who should go deep in the draw this week. Tennis improved in 2nd set after smashing defective racket.

Chardy committed a lot of unforced errors.

What a poor match from Chardy, truly a UE fest. Djokovic is going to lose to Davyd.

Was expecting it to be a closer match.

Perhaps it was the wind, but Djokovic had no depth control, sometimes even with his BH. Also didn't need to do much for this win, help from Chardy was huge.

I guess we get overexcited when we see new French players.

Too many errors but so nice touch at the net during the last game.

Good effort, Jérémy.

Like many other matches today I think the wind was a major factor regarding the no. of serve-breaks and rebreaks.
Djokovic by far the better player, though still very far from his best level. Whatever, congrats, Djoko! :hatoff:

I really liked the way he reacted towards that awesome shot from Chardy at 5-6 to level it up 30-30.. :yeah:
Has to practice his racket smashing a bit more though - needed two attempts in that second set 2-3 when Chardy rebroke to demolish that thing completely. :p :p :p

Djokovic did react to the conditions better. Good luck next time, Jim.

Expected Chardy to play better and push Djokovic. I guess he's just a typical French player.

Not a good match from both players. Djokovic had tough time with his ball toss in the wind.

Jérémy always had the strokes to be part of the top 40. Now he really needs to improve the footwork if he is to make the step further. Problem is that there hasn't been a lot of progress concerning this weakness in the last four years. Kinda weird when his coach mainly relied on this during his own career.

Chardy is a ballbasher but he does have some flair and touch about him.

Djokovic, I've kinda gone off disliking him, he needs to get going again and make it competitive at the top. At the moment only Murray, Roddick and Del Potro are producing the results.

Who should go deep in the draw? Umm...He's in the quarter-finals.

Jérémy  Still unable to trouble the absolute top, but he will get there, I am sure.

Was just going through Djokovic's presser from last night. Who the hell asked this question?

Q. You played last year with a Wilson racquet. This year, Head. What are the advantages, and do you play the same tension and same strings?
NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Yeah, I do use the same strings, and more or less the same tension, although this racquet is a faster racquet. I got this feeling.
Wilson racquet has a little bit more control, but we're working on the Head racquet to be able to have the combination of the strength and the control in the same way.
So I think having played with the racquet for eight months already I got used to it.

Q. You said this racquet is faster, but is it fast enough to beat Andy Murray?
NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Well, look, I think I have enough quality to beat anybody. Just a matter of a good day.

Makes Murray out to be some sort of superhero.
