Obviously hard courts are not the season that Blake aims for.

Traded breaks in the third before Kunitsyn broke at 4-5 to win the match.
Lots of unforced errors 60 from blake

Sorry score was 7-6 6-7 6-4

two mugs out there for 3 long sets provided us with one of the worst matches of the year! the crowd was thrilled when it was over

Blake can't win anything "tight" these days. US Open '09 will be probably his last Grand Slam event as a seeded player.

Today I've realised that Kunitsyn has similar face to Verdasco. Good luck against your friend Denko in the next round...

I think Roosevelt said it best:

If you can't take the heat, then don't play in Cincinnati.

And Bryan Webber said it nicely as well:

Another look in a match that featured over 100 unforced errors we did find an Olympus shot of the day.

That was really a horrible match.

James not only played tired, he even looked it.
Bags under the eyes, drenched in his own filth, it just was a pathetic performance.

Is he recovering from hip surgery?

He is still recovering from that brain surgery.

Awful match. :ras: But I wasn't expecting sh!t from Blake since he hasn't played in a month, but boy did he blow a dream draw. The way he kept staring at the ground during some of the changeovers was just :cuckoo:.

Good luck to Kunitsyn against Kolya - he'll need it. ;)

I think it's likely Blake will take the New Haven WC they're holding for him...

Results like this makes me even wonder why I went out of my way to stalk James Blake and get a nice picture of his bent over backside at the Westside Tennis Club four years ago,

They have proven in the past their mental strength lots of times, and so they did it again today, both of them. Quite a battle who will make bigger error in a more crucial time.

James hadn't played for over a month due to a broken toe - doubt he could practice much either. Not sure why anyone's surprised or even really amused by this one

nah, there's no dublin show. some dublin promoter posted a lust of AC's rider demands on a forum and they were pretty astronomoical for an underground band so no one wanted to touch it.

Not off-topic at all when in a James Blake thread.

I'm was watching the encore presentation on the Tennis Channel (on right now). After Kunitsyn got to 6 games, I couldn't bare the torture anymore and had to check here to see the score.

Dear GOD, Blake. WTF. He was making some incredibly amateur misses, so I'm not all that surprised.

This Blake is a joke. Hopefully he'll drop out of the tennis radar forever soon. Losing to Kunitsyn is always disgustingly bad.

I would be very surprised if James didn't ask for a wildcard into New Haven considering his interview after Kunitsyn match when he said that all that he wanted was playing competitive matches. It is reasonable to skip the last week before US Open if you wanna save energy. In this case James shall try to play even if he loses early.

hello everyone, i'm new here;)
i don't know why you are suprised by James' match. He hasn't been playing for a month, probably didn't practise much on hard courts.
By the way, 60 unforced errors don't look good:confused:
