For those who saw the match, did Verdasco play so badly ?
He played so well last week : unbelievable from such a talent

yes he played pretty shit i do believe the real fernando verdasco forgot to turn up for work today and instead some zombie like version of him was on court

What?

Verdasco was never going to trouble Murray on this form anyway. He isn't 7-1 against him for nothing. :o

The Verdasco who played last week had a great chance to beat Murray ... if he had not these mental lapses

After JMDP, he's the ideal player to beat him.

That's what Nando gets for wearing a visor.

yes I have to say I was among those who had also been hugely impressed by the Verdasco from that beginning of the year :o

But the mental and an awful bad luck in the draws put him in despair.

i think the first tihng i said when they walked out on court was "why is tabs wearing a visor? this isnt golf?!"
for all the effort he put in he might as well have been tee-ing off on a green somewhere...not like we would have missed much:rolleyes:

8 straight tie breakers lost by "einstein" verdasco.
got to be a record.

8 losing tie-breaks in a row is embarrassing, I don't know who lost the most in a row but for example Sampras (who won the most tie-breaks in tennis history) had period being No. 1 in the world in which lost 12 consecutive tie-breaks :o :o

i'm sure dasco will have no problem breaking pete's mark.
maybe they can have a parade in spain for him when dasco hits double digit in his streak of tiebreakers lost

Looks like Tobasco wasn't even good enough to hold his AO form all year. He's gonna plummet next January - April.

Mug perfomance by Nando, but some solid play by GGL, also having some "ladyluck" (Jason Goodall) in the last breaker! "The future" has some mental probs...

I thought Verdasco was extremely complacent in this match - he seemed to expect to be able to turn it around at the end of the second set.

But GGL said no mas, and Verdasco was a bit unlucky in the tiebreak with a passing netcord, and that was that.

GGL played well and deserved it, no doubt about that.

Don't tell me that Murray is going to be as lucky in Cincinnati as he was in Montreal. Del Potro out, Verdasco out. Who's next, Federer and/or Roddick?

Everyone's completely over-reacting to this loss but his inability to win a tiebreak is a worry. It's ridiculous because the best aspect of his game today was his serve with multiple love service games.

I disagree completely that the AO was a fluke and I believe he belongs in the top 10 but he REALLY needs to work on his volley because he is worse than me in the forecourt.

Tie-break is a very important factor. Sometimes you lose 6-7 6-7 first round match, the other time you play only 2 points better in a tie-break and you win 6-7 7-6 6-4, and later you are in the quarterfinal or semifinal...

Truly there is no surface that he does not dominate.
Now that both the aging GOAT and the real number 2 are about to slide down the spiral, I'm becoming a GGL fan, full force. It's the future. Better late then never.

Verdasco is having the reverse-Samson effect. The longer the hair, the worse the game.

Kind of like Del Mugro, except he pushes and retrieves to no title.
