I agree. He will have a very good career, but I think people will work out exactly how best to play him over the next year or two, and I'll be surprised if he can be consistent enough to win a slam.

He has a good chance of winning a slam, but these things are really hard to predict. He needs to improve his fitness if he is to win a slam.

Many have been predicted to be a (multiple) slam winner in the past... very few managed.
Remember Verdasco, aka "The Future" not that long ago? ;)

Too early to say. DelPotro's looking fine right now but isn't quite there yet imho.

His style of play is nothing we haven't seen before from previous players, but the post-Fed era will be too weak for him not to win any.

I'd say 3/4.

I'd be hugely disappointed if he fails to get at least one.His safe groundstrokes are the biggest on tour IMO.A slight improvement in serve consistency(he's already great in patches)and he'll get one.

One thing I could see stopping him is injuries, players as tall as him in other sports often seem to get back problems and he's already had some I think.Djokovic finding his game again wouldn't help but I reckon 1 slam is definitely within JMDP's capabilities, any more would require him improving from the confidence winning one could give him.No one can confidently guess if it would.

A lot of people talk of Murray and Nadal being the dominant forces once Federer declines, retires, or loses interest but,Del Potro looks suited to playing either on HC and outclassed Murray on clay.Djokovic may well be his biggest stumbling block post Federer, but he lost his first 3 against Murray and now looks a near 50-50 bet against him so might turn that around.

I'll go with him sneaking 1 more than my minimum,French and US,same guess as VolandriFan.

I disagree. Nalbandian might be more talented but in the words of AC/DC: Del-Potro has got bigger balls than fat Dave. Del-Pony will win about two majors.

Fed is getting old and Nadal burned out. Djokovic and Murray will not be able to lock down the slams in the same manner, not even close. So consistent performers like JMDP will definitely get their chances, I'm sure he'll get 1 or 2.
Wouldn't exactly mind him ending up with a big fat 0. Just about my least favourite player.

His movement is nowhere near good enough for him to win the RG. It´s actually the one thing that can prevent him from winning any slams. Seven best of five matches is possibly too much for such a tall and clumsy player.

It depends a lot on the rise of the new players, if Murray is for some time the only tough competition for him on hard, he'll definitely grab a Slam, but if Djokovic comes back to form and new players challenge the top ones he could end with no Slam.

Semifinalist is not the same as winning. He got there by beating "clay court greats" like Llodra, Troicki, Tsonga and Robredo. I´m just saying, clay requires solid movement, and players who are close to 2 metres rarely move that well. IMO RG is the GS he will least likely win. Now crawl back to your hole, before you end up apologising another monkey insult like a crying little girl.
Federer won RG defeating Martin, Acasuso, Mathieu, Haas, Monfils, Del Potro and Soderling. It's not like the opposition on clay is that good these days.

I cannot stand the guy. But he can play. Even showed very good touch at the net in his encounter with Murray. And his mobility is definitely not a liability.

If he can get his contitioning in order, I think he's got atleast 4 slams in him. But never on grass.

Depends on how hard he wants to work. I was impressed with his movement and subtle net play against Murray, but those AND his fitness could still be better. He can't even finish grueling three setters.

I think if he gets his fitness in order and continues to add movement and variety he can take a 1 RG and 1 AO.

A couple RGs, couple hardcourt Slams, probably never on grass (but we didn't think Nadal could improve so tremendously on grass either).

Wimbledon is also perfect for him. While he may not win it 2010, he'll definitely win one there with the game he has.
