3-1 in H2H for Murray. Could be a close one, also a telling factor on who could win the US Open.

2009 Madrid Del Potro, Juan Martin 7-6(4), 6-3
2009 Miami Murray, Andy 6-1, 5-7, 6-2
2008 US Open Murray, Andy 7-6(2), 7-6(1), 4-6, 7-5
2008 Rome Murray, Andy 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 RET

Murray "got a little lucky" again as Del Pony should be tired after playing some many matches and this particular with Roddick was long and intense, that happened too in last years Usopen and this year in Miami.

Murray - I think Delpo is going to be a bit jaded. He was looking it in that third set.

I do expect Delpo to give Murray a lot of problems though, attacking anything short and running Murray ragged.

It's the natural progression for any top player.

ATP 250/500 title ---> Masters semis ---> Masters Final ---> Win Masters final ---> GS final ---> GS title

You can see Del Potro is midway through the progression right now.

There was nothing wrong with Del Potro in past HC matches. In fact, Murray had played more magtches than Del Potro in the run up to their Miami match.

If people want to make the fatigue excuse, I really don't care - conditioning is part of the deal, as is scheduling.

Honestly, I haven't been all that impressed with Murray recently. He may be getting away with it, but he's playing way to passively. If Tsonga had a decent head on his shoulders, he might very well have beaten Murray today (or at the very least won the second set). If Del Potro isn't too tired and he's hitting like he did in the last two sets of tonight's match, I really fancy his chances to win his first masters shield.

As for Del Potro, win or lose, he continues to lay down his marker for the future.

He's got the stuff to win some slams - his game is big, his mentality is strong, the desire is very much there.

He still doesn't excite me at all - he's like a cross between Davydenko and Djokovic with a bit of Isner thrown in for good measure - but he's gonna pick up a slam or two in the future I think.

I don't lend credence to them. Acknowledging that Del Potro is getting fatigued is not excusing it in any way in my book. People always make dumb excuses. People excuse Murray's loss in Australia by asserting he was ill - but he went out and played so we assume he's fully fit, ready to go, and tough shit if he ain't. Same here with Delpo - if he is tired, boo hoo, when he takes to the court it's too bad.

It's all hot air anyway - the only thing that matters is what that end scoreline is - all the opinions and excuses aren't really worth a hot fart on a cold day.

I know Delpo has all of his haters here in the negative land of MTF who look down on anyone/insult with curse words anyone who likes him- but I think he has talent, it has been fun as a fan to watch him grow his game over the past couple of years, and I want him to get a Masters.

stfu u fool murray fanboys, murray winning because delpo got tired.

If only he had had ample opportunity to work on his fitness.Remind me what's stopped him.I like DelPo but he shouldn't be tired with all the stalling he does.

He could have ducked Washington if he wasn't fit enough. The extra rest during this tournament excuse is cancelled out by Murray playing every round during the heat of the day.

Murray chose to use his fitness as a weapon, a risk I and many of his fans wish he hadn't taken. It paid off,so take defeat like an adult.
