Federer's Last Stand.

After Federer crushing defeat letting Tsonga walk all over him in that last set, is it the end of Roger Federer's winning streak.

This latest defeat is clear sign of Federer losing his grip on the game. Already there are claims Federer will never win another Grand Slam. With all the signs of a Federer downfall will the US Open in NYC be his last stand before he fades into the "have-been" category?

Murray seems ready to take over Federer's Crown.

Have been? Out of the last 22 matches, he has won 21, he is no where near "has been".

the same exact thing happened after the Djokovic defeat in Rome, and look how things turned out, so lesson: never count out Roger, specially on Slams, we never know for sure what the future is gonna be

Yeah almost everyone that he faces might choke again in 2 more consecutive slams.

You forgot a "?" and yes it actually was. That streak ended today and for crying out loud, what would we do without you Captain Obvious?

oh dear, where's the facepalm when you need it...Roger tanked, simple as that, anyone with a half brain cell could see that he was showboating and and shanking shots left and right. That's his special way of ranking matches:devil:

You're lacking creativity. This talk has been going on since Federer's back to back losses to Canas. 5 GS titles since then. Not too bad.

Now that Rafa is back he's scared shitless again. He didn't want to face the embarrassment of losing to him in the final.

You guys are all morons, sorry. The same thing happens every year. Fed doesn't look great, he loses matches he should win, and all of you guys say he is over. Then, he wins the majority of the majors every year. The same cycle will continue. Who cares if he loses in an epic match in a meaningless tournament? Roger only cares about majors and beating Nadal.

The other amazing thing is he could have easily held serve and won the match 67 61 62 and nobody would be saying he is done. Get real

Exactly. He will continue to kick major ass. (in the majors) Who cares if he loses in these meaningless tourneys??? He will just keep winning majors. Does losing these tournaments but dominating in majors mean you aren't good anymore?

You have no clue how retarded you sound. Lets run down his recent achievments.

Completed career grand slam.

Won French Open/Wimby double.

Regained number 1.

Won his 15th major.

Won 22 straight matches.

Hes freakin coming off having TWINS! He probably hasnt slept in weeks. And its not like a QF loss at a masters is bad. Happens to everyone.

Hes done? Are you kidding me????

Idiot.

Montreal is a pretty major tournament ATP 1000 its not like Newport, Basel or New Haven next week.

Below the GS it's the next most important thing in Tennis. Roger's win at Madrid this year turned him around and was a huge part in his confidence in winning his 2 grand slams.

No, it isn't. Next most important to the Slams are he Masters Cup and the Olympics. For Federer, the only tourneys that really matter are the Slams and the Olympics.

This is a champion's post. :worship: And he nailed it on the head.

Fed knows that the only things he can do with the rest of his career to strengthen his foundation as greatest ever are a) win more Slams and b) beat Nadal more (and anywhere). He could use an improved H2H against his nemesis.

Not this again. People never learn. Federer loses one match and yup he is done. Tsonga is a good player but Federer was well on top and should have won. Federer is far from done.

Makes no sense to start this kind of a thread. We all know how terrible Roger has become in non-Grand Slam matches since 2007. I mean, he only won 2 Master Series in 2007, zero in 2008 and only one so far this year. Remember when Roger should have won the Montreal final in 2007 against Djokovic or when he lost a bunch of times from practically beginning of 08 till the Madrid final this year against Nadal/Murray/Djokovic? And then he comes back and wins another 4 Grand Slams since Wimbledon 2007 and the rest is history. Again like Nadull and the rest of the ATP, they are human. Tsonga did come back in a way and started playing pretty consistent but Roger lost his edge especially off his backhand side. Quite honestly, I thought Roger played pretty poor from the baseline today and was only successful in the first set from his serve and Tsonga's tendancy to overhit easy shots. We will have to see at the US Open, but honestly having his twin girls and who knows how much practice he has had, it probably has been a little stressful few weeks of rest. IMO, he will step it up for another solid Grand Slam performance. Always so tricky this guy Roger Federer.
