I love their matches simply because the quality of play is always insanely good. Their rivalry, in my mind, is far superior to the Fed-Nadal rivalry.
I agree and I believe that happens because Nadal makes him play his best tennis and they know that a win over each other brings a lot of confidence.

 6-1 First set in the bag!!!
Nole played beautifully!!!!
Like Federer's match against Murray, the first set contains 2 breaks...
 Whatever's up with Rafa???
Keep this going, Nole! :yeah:
I'm afraid it is all on Nole this time.:worship:

It was a mental win for Novak.:worship: I was afraid that we are about to watch repeat from Madrid. It was the biggest possible win for his confidence, but I'm not that optimistic about tomorrow's match. Definitely, Rafa's game suits Novak comparing to Murray, Fed and even Roddick who is slowly becoming a problem.

This win is important...because otherwise, consequences could've been IMO very very bad. You couldn't see on his face, but I'm sure that he is on seven heaven right now because he finally shook the monkey off his back.
I really don't get it...why his level ALWAYS drops in second set. Why? I simply don't understand. He have all the weapon he needs...but...

Federer will face Djokovic for title
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/news/story?id=4416270

Djokovic, who lost to Murray in last year's final, came out aggressively against Nadal. The Serb fired five aces and 13 winners in the first set, including a backhand passing shot to break Nadal in the fourth game. Djokovic gained an edge in the second set when Nadal knocked a backhand into the net on break point in the fifth game, but he maintained the pressure, finishing with 21 winners to Nadal's 10.

"[Nadal's] one of the best players ever, and he puts a lot of effort into every point, so even though I was a set and a break up, I knew he wasn't finished," said Djokovic, who has won his last two matches against Federern but is 4-7 overall. "I did everything I needed to do to win."

Nadal, the former top-ranked player who was in his second tournament after missing two months with tendinitis in both knees, still is adjusting to the speed and intensity of playing the highest-ranked players, he said.

"I knew I had to play aggressively, but he was always inside the line and I was always outside," he said. "I wasn't 100-percent ready to play. I need to play at this level more than one time. I know, when I play well, I can play at this level."

It's not about how you start the season but how you finish it, and if Nole is now rediscovering his form right before the Open, it could finish very sweetly indeed. It's just great that it seems like he's playing well and looking a bit happier on the court.

Good luck in the final Nole. :hearts: I'm part of the "I don't like Federer" camp that's here so hopefully Nole can carry loads of confidence from this match and show him how it's done. :p

Yes I'm nervous too  Guy over in The Castle told me that the weather in Cinci won't be too hot or humid today, which I think is good for Nole, - and also that the high winds there have dropped :) I have no idea how he will feel to be honest - I just fear a little that he used up all his intensity and mental energy yesterday to try and prove a point after all his losses to Nadal - and will have nothing left  Roger is in top form and will be fired-up for sure.

Relax, people ;) I think it's a bit too much to ask Nole to beat Rafa and Roger in succession...We should be proud of him no matter what. I only wish he has really rest enough

:secret: While at the same time, Roger may have used up some of his intensity and mental energy yesterday to try and prove a point after all his losses to Murray. But tbh, Roger seems to have a bottomless well of intensity and mental energy

I agree with you. They just can't bring the best out of each other. As much as I like both of them, I really hate watching them play each other. Their matches give me a bad feeling

I think because of all that has happened off-court, there's always this negative vibe between them during matches...I for one don't feel comfortable watching them play, unlike with Rafa even though Nole has suffered plenty a heartbreaks on that end.

Let's see how today goes. Ajde Novak, just imagine Rafa across the net
