Safin has a great chance of making the 3rd Round & then anything can happen from there!

Some decent first round matches:

Berdych vs Fernando Gonzalez
Robredo vs Chardy
Monfils vs Karlovic
Melzer vs F. Lopez
Safin vs Ginepri! (both WC)
Hewitt vs Soderling!

Montreal has been great so far, Cincinnati looks good too.

can someone re-write draw here then, please?

Should be a good tournie. Really interesting draw. A bit top heavy though imo, with Murray, Roddick Fed and Del Potro being the form players over last few months.

Good to see Soderling and Blake back in action. Blake can play against his "pigeon" Davydenko in the 2nd round. A couple days ago I had a dream that Denko was 4:0 up in the third against Blake, then Blake wasted double match point at 6:5 and the match was interrupted by rain before deciding tie-break

If Federer records 20 victories against Roddick, will that be a first time a player has lost 20 times to a different player?

Maybe Davy can finally beat that brainless mug Blake. Inexplicable that he keeps losing to such a joke player.

That's a good question. Is Clowndrew Mugduck the biggest mugclown of all time?

I think most players have lost to 20 different players in their career. If you're thinking the same player all 20 of them, check:http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=S402&oId=A092

Murray has Del Potro or Verdasco in the quarters. That's very tough.

True. Perhaps Djokovic quarter appears the easiest. Wonder how del Potro and Roddick will do playing 3 weeks in a row.

Gaudio2004

Very tough? I hope you're being sarcastic, Del Potro and Verdasco are very, very easy opponents to beat. Having Nadal or Federer is tough.

Eh? Murray can't draw them till the SF! Del Potro or Roddick is the worst guy for one of the top four to have in their quarter right now.

Murray cannot have Nadal or Federer in his quarter. We're talking about who has the easiest quarter. Del Potro is about the toughest quarter opponent there is for the top 4.

Roddick/Federer yet again. What a fucking surprise.

This tournament in incredibly top heavy what with (1) Federer, (5) Roddick, (6) Del Potro, (3) Murray, and (11) Verdasco. All the mugs (Djokovic, Davydenko, Nadal post-injuries) are all on the other side. I expect to see some crazy surprises here as Montreal went to plan pretty much. Something is bound to give!

Roger has by far the toughest quarter. Roddick is the toughest QF opponent for the top 4. Then Delpo. This draw is too top heavy.

Another Fedtard with 0 tennis knowledge.

The 3rd seed cant draw the 1st or 2nd seeds in the quarterfinals.

Yes I know this, 1 and 2 do not face each other until final and 3/4 are drawn randomly to which they get at SF (hence 1 getting 3 at Montreal and Cincinnati, Fed faces Murray at both).

Just by your name I can tell you're bitter, I'm not even a Federer fan.

Is that why you suck to Federer and his tards in 90% of your posts.
Come out of the closet and accept your Fedtardness.

P.S. I have had this username since I joined because I knew Federer is too weak to beat a Spartan like Nadal.

Suck up to Federer? It's very easy to appreciate his elegant style of play, and I will not lie to you - Nadal has a repulsive style of play, but I can appreciate his mental toughness. This is why I am more mature and know more about tennis than you - I can empathise with both players, you only look at Nadal's side.

P.S. I have had this username for a long time (been here since 2005, just made a new acc. recently) and I have seen this so called "Spartan" double-fault at match points, this "Spartan" lose a 2 set and just completely fade to pieces to the "Pansy" - how can Federer be too weak when he comes down from 2 sets to beat Nadal? Leave aside the trolling and answer that.

I have seen how Nadal is a "Spartan", he introduces intimidating tactics (when Federer didn't follow them he beat him in Madrid 09), he can be very vile, just ask Berdych, Gaudio, Soderling.

The "Spartans" can be so tough and intimidating, but at the end of the day, the intelligent "pansy" is the one that has won the last 2 Grand Slams, he is the tougher player to beat.

Mug Pony is about the toughest quarter opponent there is for the top 4.

Titanic mug. Totally false statement.

The draw is fairly even with Federer's being the easiest draw and Djokovic's being the hardest.

Horatio Caine

Seems like the draw makers were intent on having that Gonzalez/Berdych match.

Top half of the draw is quite a bit stronger than the bottom half. Quite happy to see that Muzza will be tested this week...would be nice to have a revenge match against Fer, or the opportunity to put Excalibur on suicide watch by mid-week.

Roddick/Federer re-match would be good...on a fast Cincy court, Roddick might just get revenge for Wimbledon.

Will be interesting to see how Blake does on his return. As far as match-ups go, Davydenko and Simon are good for him, but I guess that he probably doesn't have the match fitness to help him out this time.

Boredo can book his taxi ride now if he likes.

Djokovic/Davydenko QF would be good, as would a Tsonga/Gonzalez R3! :bounce:

Nadal unlikely to go far if his level doesn't improve...although he does have that ability to find a way to win, so you never quite know. Seppi, Monfils, Tsonga and Gonzalez have all beaten him before on a hard court of some sorts, and that is only the route to the SF.

On one croatian site, i found this informations...
MONTREAL 1000
surface:
hard

court speed:
36.12% vs all surfaces
30.99% vs hard

CINCINNATI PREMIER
surface:
hard

court speed:
67.10% vs all surfaces
66.46% vs hard

Is that true, that cincy surface is so much faster ?
( better for ljubicic :) )

I think it's safe to say that Cincy is faster than Montreal but with these particular numbers I would be careful...

However you measure it (there are at least 10 good ways of doing it), Cinci is comfortably the fastest outdoors hard court on tour. Montreal is middle of the pack, although occasionally pretty slow when it's cloudy and humid.
