Youzhny sucked. But Nole played well from his side apart from the first couple of games.

Ladies and gentleman, I give you the STRONG ERA.

Djokovic has won 3 and 4 playing sloppy point after sloppy point, DF after DF, such is the great era of tennis we play in.

One of the worst matches ever.

Djokovic killed Youhzny with that serve out wide to Youzh's forehand on the deuce court, look for him to use it all week here.

Youzhny too youzhless these days to fight hard against top players, such a shame, Djokovic beating him while playing pushing tennis for the most part is embarrassing, kept missing routine shots all the time...

NID, but Djokovic didn't really play well, too many DFs and still Youzhny was even worse than him :o

Some nice points here and there from the Colonel, but the cheap errors came all too often.

2 DFs at the opening game and 2 DFs at the closing game. Not handling the pressure well by Djokovic. But he's solid throughout the match with help from Youzhny at critical points.

solid from djoker but thats it. still feel once he plays a confident player whom against he cant draw any for himself, it will be a landslide loss yet again.

Can some of the more experienced readers please tell me about the lion's era in the 80s and 90'? Am I right in assuming that then every single match that was ever played, no matter how MM the tournament happened to be, was a feast of shot-making and picture perfet S&V at its finest, where no man would ever let a breakpoint go to waste, hell, even when a guy was down 0-30 at 1:1 in the last set you could practically turn off your TV because it was a given that the break would happen right then and there and once a player got a break in the final set the match was practically over?

end of rant.

In those eras a world no 4 and Grand Slam champion playing DFs galore and unforced errors/pusher tennis would LOSE or be pushed to an extreme 3 set match against a top 50er, not beat him in straight sets. :haha:

Let's see, in a moderately strong era, it's inconceivable to be one of the top contenders for slams and have months on end of very sloppy form. You'd also invariably lose more than one ranking spot. Does that help?

:secret: experienced readers could do it without viagra in 80s and 90s, and now they can't.
that is the essential difference.:D

I expected a little bit more from Youzhny here, but in all fairness, he was rightout horrible.
Nevertheless, good victory for Djoko. He seemed to have gotten rid of that rustiness that plagued him so obviously in his first match, he showed a solid level of playing today, if I just ignore the Double-Fault-itis that was still there.

Congrats, Djoko! :hatoff:
