YES!

Marat was down a set and a break then he went down a break in the decider. Had break points to go up *5-2 but couldn't convert. Nearly threw it away in last game saving BP.

:boxing: :bigclap:

Whoever lost this match was gonna have lost it in a deeply disturbing way, and Ernests sure as hell did. Up a break in the 2nd and 3rd sets, just terrible really. Needs someone to help him mentally  :smash:
Great job though Marat. :)

Good win by Marat. Geez, that Gulbis puts in a lot of double faults. Guess a few of us were following the match.

How many rallies over 5 shots were there in this match? I would guess not very much

Well done Marat :)

Quite, quite crazy. Was that 28bps? Every game seemed to go 0-40 or 15-40 at one point.

:woohoo:

Of course, Marat's win didn't come easy. I'm just glad he didn't tank after all those BP's down and missed opportunities. :yeah:

Ernie

Well done Marat. :bigclap: Now win this tournament and make it memorable. :p

As for Gulbis, he needs to find a way to end this horrible streak. It's been a year now.

What a mug match. Good win for Marat, but Ernests needs to get some help or just stop playing.

It is possible to outsafin Safin...oh Ernests.

Congrats to Marat, hope he doesn't inevitably go on to lose next round..would be nice to see him have a few small final hurrahs.

Intersting how many threads were made for this one, in comparison to when Ernie wins a match. Good old GM.

You've said that twice now about winning the tournament, it isn't happening, Safin fans are just enjoying the couple of wins. I expect him out in the next round.

I'd like to see him win now - that doesn't mean it'll happen.

Haas is not exactly the most solid player out there, he can crack easily so he's got a chance if he hangs in there.

Marat :hearts:

After giving us all a heart attack he pulled through.. Poor Ernie, though. At least Marat can relate to his mental troubles..:scared:

Haas hasn't even played Levine yet.

I know, but I couldn't be bothered with saying "Haas or Levine". He's the strong favourite in that match though.

Gimme a break, will ya? :p

Yes, but this is Haas who's playing Levine, not Marat :p so he should win OK especially as he's been on such a good run recently. I'd so like to see Marat win this but as you've already said, we all have to be realistic!

Good win for Safin and his band of Safanites. I am glad I did not see the match, it sounds as if it was a stinker. Gulbis retire you spoiled brat.

As I remember before LA Safin hadn't won matches down a set in 2009 - so winning these two is really nice job. Also it is only third time he wins 2 consecutive matches this year(+ Hopman cup,AO). So surely there are some great positive days for Safin fans, gratz)
