LA R1: Spadea runs Kendrick close, 0-6 0-6

Painful. Spadea won less than a third of points on his own serve.

ps last service game, serving to avoid double bagel, 15-15. What does he do? Df twice in a row.

Spadea has received first double bagel in his very long career, his previous "worst" defeat happened 9 years ago when he lost to Szymanski 0-6 1-6 in LV Challenger.

I wonder if the Ice said something about Kendrick's girlfriend beforehand. Or tried to get it on with his mother.

Usually players aren't this brutal, they ease off before the double bagel.

Beatdown city! Kendrick won 3 times as many points as Spadea. I wonder what the record is, if it's even recorded.

Kendrick def. Spadea 6-0 6-0 in 36 minutes; total points: 51-17
Rusedski def. Arriens 6-0 6-0 in 29 minutes; total points: 48-10

Spadea is a specialist of unique records:
- the most saving match points in a Grand Slam match
- the most defeats in a row
- the most tournaments played before winning first title

He should have tried more to overcome Arriens' record :o

What's the closest one has come to winning a Golden set. That means no points dropped at all.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Scanlon

The only known example of a golden set in professional tennis was achieved by Scanlon against Marcos Hocevar (of Brazil) in the first round of the WCT Gold Coast Classic at Delray Beach, Florida on February 22, 1983. Scanlon won the match, 6–2, 6–0. A golden set is when a player wins the set without losing a single point. The feat is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.

If a game goes to deuce, can't you win winning 5 points?

to 15, to 30, to 40, to Ad, to Game

So if he won 11 games without deuce, that is 44 points, then a game goes to a couple deuces and he can win 7 points in the last game.

15, 30, 40, Ad (loses pt back to deuce), Ad (loses pt back to deuce), Ad, wins game = 7 points. That way you can have an odd number.

Yes, you're right, I've been a pathetic mathematician since my teenage life :o I don't know why I thought in a game with at least one "deuce" the number of winning points by a player who won a game is even, no, as you said is odd... always :)

jcreback
07-28-2009, 08:32 PM
Exactly. As long as the number of games that went to deuce is odd, the total points will be odd. If the number of games that went to deuce is even, then it is even.

So does this take away Vinney's chance for a wild card into Legg-Mason or do they find a result like this entertaining and figure he'll be a crowd puller. I think 0-0 might be fun to watch, you could cheer for him trying to pull him through to win a game, or not!

If you win a game you have to make 4 points plus an additional 2 for every duece. So when you only win games you got to have an even total points:confused:

If you win a game after reaching deuce, you can win an even OR odd amount of points.

An example of an odd amount of points won: 15-30-40-Ad-game. 5 points won.

An example of an even amount of points won after reaching deuce: 15-30-40-ad-lose the next one to go back to deuce-ad-game. 6 points won.
