I haven't found anything that works with atdhe but Replay Media Catcher gets most other streams and youtube etc.

Can someone give me an ETA on when Gillou might start? The US Open site is too much to load on dialup  I can't even watch the livescore :bigcry: and I've only half an hour's worth of battery left :there.isn't.even.an.emoticon.that.describes.how.I .feel: :(

I'm watching the live stream directly from the USTA.org site. But I don't know what's the different in terms of recording stream from different site.

He is up next after the current match on Ct 13, Acasuso and Daniels just started though 1-0 in the first set. I don't think these 2 will be fast based on their play style. I'm guessing Gilles match will starts no earlier than 5pm NY time, don't know what's that equivalent to your time. right now is 2:30 pm local time.

What's an ETA? Acasuso's match just started minutes ago so at least, Gilles won't be on court before 2 hours and a half at best I think.

His match will probably be available on torrent (I hope so coz it might be too late for me to watch it live).

leptiric

probably in about 2 to 3 hours...depending on how much sets they will play!

Really nice interview with Gilles on sky then with Barry Cowen on the way to Flushing Meadows :) Hopefully someone managed to record it they might show it later, nothing new but the haircut is looking better

daaaamn i missed that!!
did u see it on tv or the net??

ETA = estimated time of arrival, or sth like that.

Watched a bit of Marat's post-match interview, just a few questions and he cracks me up so much. Gosh, I'm gonna miss him sooooooooooooooooooooo much.

Estimated Time of Arrival :p

Thanks guys, I'm getting my pal who is blessed with both electricity and Sky to record it for me so at worst I'll see it tomorrow. I'm off now so I can at least come back for the score later on. Enjoy the match!!! I'm having sandwiches by candlelight for my tea

Scotso
09-02-2009, 08:08 PM
Yes, I think it's good in his case he's playing only on Wednesday since he's nursing a knee inflammation, he possibly even asked for it.

He's had rest, though, because he didn't play last week. So I think it would have been better for him to have two days rest between his first and second match.

Scotso
09-02-2009, 08:13 PM
Why do you not have electricity?

I'm not sure I could function without it. When I was a kid we had a bad ice storm and the power was out for two days. It was the worst experience of my life, I just sat staring at the TV and rocking back and forth. :p

Are you the Jess they mentioned in the interview?! Really nice interview - as you say, nothing new, but Gilles is looking happy and relaxed (lots of smiles!) :lick: Acasuso has now won 1st set, BTW, so potentially 2 sets away from Gillou - though god knows how long that'll take!

(BTW, I haven't posted on here for a while but I've been reading all your wonderful posts and pictures regularly - thanks everyone!) :wavey:

Edit: Now 2nd set for Acasuso - Gillou time is fast approaching! (hopefully!)

Frankie
09-02-2009, 08:38 PM
Also, not sure if it's been mentioned, but Bellucci has beaten Lu, so he's up next for Gillou... not getting ahead of ourselves though, of course! ;)

It's not like I had a choice! We have a hydro power station here but it's offline just now as they're connecting it to the huge new hydro power station a few glens away - so at the moment the village is powered by a generator. The guy who came out to have a look said it had run out of oil and water and someone would be out from town and it would be fixed AGES ago but it's not :( I have internet though (but not for much longer :(:(:( I had to come and see what was happening!

MsTree
09-02-2009, 08:49 PM
I've spent a bit of time on Fair Isle, a remote island between Orkney and Shetland, they are powered by a generator (and two wind turbines but they're always broken) and every night at 11.30 they switch off the power. If you wanted more power you had to pay per hour and the whole island got power  Its at infuriating times like this I remember all the folk who don't get regular electricity, we all just take it for granted!

(That's meant to earn me karma points with the energy god who might bless me with electricity between now and Gillou's match )

lalaland
09-02-2009, 09:08 PM
May the "force" be with you, Les.

Acasuso is just 1 game away, 5-3 in the 3rd. He better don't choke. Vamos, finish it up so we can see Gillou plays.

I know. When he finished serving his last serve game, he had to hide his smile behind the towel. It's too cute, he made me laugh. Despite the tennis, this is a good match to watch him because he just can't help himself but smiles all the time, at bad line calls, at his own good fortune. He's in a good mood.

In his audio interview on the FFT website http://www.fft.fr/usopen/2009/?id=5252 he says he had concentration lapses, especially at the beginning of the sets, but since he managed to get his act together at the end of each set, it was OK. Physically he was fine today. Anyway, he's fed up with talking about it all the time, he's going to have this problem for a while and he doesn't want to sound like he's complaining all the time, so he prefers to not talk about it.

There were a lot of reasons to have trouble focussing today, like always in NY: a lot of people walking around around the court, planes, the shadow of the trees ( :o )... He laughs and says it was really tough to make the effort to focus on the match!

The first goal is to reach the 2nd week. He has never played against Bellucci, but he has often watched him play and he knows Bellucci is playing very well atm.

_______________

I'm really scared of Bellucci, he's on fire, when did the guy lose a match for the last time?!?

Yay, an early match :yippee:. I think they switch off the sound of the stream when those late matches are outside the tv broadcast window. So I was really hoping for an early match.

I didn't think about checking out Tennis Channel's website until you guys mention it, so they also run livestream free there. Is it just for this USO or they always do that on Tennis Channel website? I'm amazed, at the coverage of this USO, free streaming everywhere, I hardly watch anything on ESPN2 since they only carry the boring blownaway matches so far, at least on the men side.

Lena is best when she is under the radar, unfortunately, since sheís playing so well this summer, she was a favorite and that didnít bode well with her.

Iím running out of players that I like in the women draw, Iím not even talking about my favorites. But after watching 2 rounds of Safina, Iím getting a real kick out of her matches. She plays so badly, so negative on court and constantly berating herself and yet, she still got out of it a winner. Regardless of everything that can go wrong went wrong for her, she fights on, got to give her credit for that. So go Dinara. But at the end of the day, Kimís going to win it all, oh yeah ;)!

My fervor for the USO has diminished significantly (although Kim does rock :yeah:). First, almost all of my favs were in the same section of the draw. I was fearing having to watch them all play each other but that was quickly overtaken by first round losses...

I'm glad Gillou will be on a televised court tomorrow. Too bad for me though that it's not a night match. I'd rather watch it live (as long as it's a straight sets win... Those darn 'middle sets'). Tennis channel just started having the free livestreaming (+ archives) this year. I first remember seeing it with RG. I'm not sure if it's the GS's only or not. What I like most about it is that they don't specify who won the match. I can't get into watching when I already know the outcome.

Gillou is second on Court 11 tomorrow :D

Hopefully Tennis Channel will show it on their coverage. I don't really see that much else in their window at that time that looks interesting. But I'm sure that's the reason they *won't* show it. TV likes to bore me.

Lena & Misha !!! :hysteric:
This USO's worst than the titanic. :sobbing:

I thought Oudin's win was really the first exciting moment of the tournament, to be honest. :o The vast majority of the matches have been yawnfests.

And I love Chiudi!

I don't know, either. I remember using it once or twice for Roland Garros, but for the most part I just don't enjoy watching tennis on the computer, so I usually just stick with what they broadcast on TV, unless it's Gilles and a very, very few others.

I’m running out of players that I like in the women draw, I’m not even talking about my favorites.

I really liked the veteran women, back when women's tennis was actually good. The decline started in earnest for me when Mary Pierce went away, by far my favorite. And then the final nail in the coffin was when my Nathalie retired this year. :sobbing: I do like a few of them, like Flavia Pennetta. But for the most part, women's tennis has become unwatchable.

hope he plays better tomorrow! :)
his hear isnt all that good, he grew a beard - i like it though its better when he shaves, and the only good part of the match was him trying to fight a laugh a couple of times...loved that :)

Oh thats fine then tanx  I guess I wanted his hair to be awesome and him to not have a beard, but if all that is not good then a win will be fine :) I guess i'll have to try and find a vid of him trying to fight a laugh because he looks so pweety wen he smiles  And oh yea he needs to start playing better I hope its not his knee thats the cause of this :awww:

I like that he's having fun on court (better than yelling the lung out at himself):p
, as long as he concentrates when he needs to.

I'm worry about Bellucci, a lot. Good that Gilles scouts him out, at least he knows what's coming. Belluci has won his last 11 matches.

To right! I prefer gillou smiling and laughing rather than constantly screaming and shouting at himself, it becomes so hard to watch :awww:

Petzschner is having his way with Juanqui, he's deserving his nickname today, it's nice to watch unless you are a Ferrero fan .JC didn't even know what hit him. The only fault he has so far is his outfit, all white outfit with black socks , ouch. Doesn't he has a clothing sponsor? His white T has nothing on it.

Well, JC was broken twice in each first 2 sets, but he just broke back in the 3rd, maybe there's hope, that Petzschner is coming back down to earth.

Gilles' match is a set away, won't be long now.

lalaland
09-04-2009, 04:50 PM
Think I spoke too soon. Cilic is leading 4-0 in the 3rd, looks like at least 1 more set after the 3rd. And JC finally broke Picasso and went up a break in the 3rd, so things are turning around for these 2 matches. And Jo is on his way to the 3rd round, no problem.

I would definitely prefer Ferrero against Gilles in R3 if the later strives enough to get there (I'm purposely negative here ^^).

Just watched King vs Hantuchova, was fun to see Daniella makes Vania run like a rabbit in every corner of the court. If she knew how to deal efficiently with skyhigh moonballs, it would have been 0 and 0.

I prefer Juanqui to play Gilles if Gilles gets there too, he is way more predictable, Petzschner is pretty scary when he's on, like in the first 2 sets when he won't miss and playing quite beautifully.

I am sure every French tennis player's dream is to win the French. But the statement that he made is more of a generalization of every frenchie. it showed a lack of understanding from the commentator's part on how Gilles actually plays.

Nope, I knew he would consolidate. :p Belluci's returns are rather poor considering Gilles'low percentage of first serve.

damn this bellucci is drop dead gorgeus

He certainly is.

Yep I agree; on some of his forehand posture, Belluci is strikingly Djokovic-esque.

HoistDaColors

this 17 year old talking right now has more insight than the commentators.

bellucci is trying to hit the ball to tibet.

Scotso

Scotso

I think Bellucci was working harder. He's already called for the trainer.

3 UEs but only 8 winners  first serve 39% 2/2 BPs though! Allez Gilles! :D

lalaland

Bellucci succeeded in consecutive drop shots. Maybe Gilles won't stand so far behind the baseline then, he's like 15 fts away .

Only 39% 1st serve .

C'mon Gilles, get it done quick.

turtle-rn
09-04-2009, 07:47 PM
Dammit! :(

Don't get why Gilles stand even further back on Belluci's second serve than on first serve. >_<
so many opportunities missed.

MsTree

I almost like Nole now, I'm warming to him!
Mario is just :hearts: Don't think he'll be back though :(

turtle-rn

Only 39% 1st serve .
That was Gilles percentage for the second set right?

doesn't the kick serve forces gilles to either take it early by standing far in or take it late by standing far back?

lalaland

That was Gilles percentage for the second set right?

I think so. Still sucks.

He did step in to take it early several times, and then he runs back to his 15 ft mark. :o

Yes. It was in the 60s for the 1st.

Better to take early on the rise and pressurize your opponent by standing far in then.

Mario is just :hearts: Don't think he'll be back though :(

i dont think so either...theyve been writting stories here that hes trying to come back but every time he tries, he gets sick again  so he took a year off just to rest and train.
i dont like nole cause in the interviews (at least the ones shown here) hes kinda stuck up..

dont fall asleep gillou
