ATP becoming the laughing stock of sport.

Yup, biggest and most outstanding fix of all time. Makes Davy and MVA look like sideshow amateurs.

Quite, quite amazing. Do you think they have rehearsals? Or are they expected to memorise the script?

Go on then, name something even remotely close. Davydenko-MVA has nothing on this. None of Volandri's, none of Starace's, Rochus, Hernandez, Canasa and all the usual crew. I've seen them all, and this is a country mile more elaborate.

Because none of them were comparable, and you claimed some were. Duh.

Kim was up a break in 3rd set and the odds for Istomin were 1.40 to win.

At 4-4 in 3rd set and Istomin serving the odds on Kim were 12.0

at 3-4, Kim won 5 points in a row to win a game from 0-40 just to be broken in the next game

What a fighter this Istomin, from being schooled by an on fire Crivoi in last match to come back from a set and a double break down in the 2nd set today. Watch out Denis in this summer :worship:

Somebody bet 25k on Istomin to win at 1.47 when Kim was a break up :-)

Well done Istomin, good result to rebound from convincing defeat to Crivoi.

This is clearly the CMOAT (Cleanest Match of All Time) :worship:
I wasn't paying attention to the odds but wow, this just screams fix.
Istomin comes back to win the second from a set and a double break down, and comes back to win the third from a break down. All the while, the scoreboard is jumping around. Seems they rehearsed this whole spectacle
Shame I couldn't go to Indy this year, must have been damn near a Shakespearean tragedy live :worship:

Btw solid win Denis :yeah:

They must have had an interesting conversation - fixed their meeting, and then both went out and did it again next match with the new tactics they'd learned

The unsusual thing here is that both of them dared to do two really blatant ones in a row - that's new. Since Sopot fixers have always been at 110% in their next few matches, aware they're under scrutiny. Perhaps it's inevitable that would change, since the ATP just decided to sweep it all under the carpet.

Well this is hard courts and Kevin Kim shouldnīt be allowed to defeat Istomin here.

bad gambler

Not suprising given Kim has only been competitive in ATP matches this year when his opponents were injured :silly:

So what were the pre-match odds all about? A bluff by the fixers? Or the market got the wrong end of the stick when they heard of a fix?

Kim - Guzman in Acapulco 07 was the same - pre-match surge on Kim, but Guzman won - scoreline not as elaborate tho.

Yup. 1st round, small event, took very little money to fake out the market, especially given Istomin pulled a tank/fix the previous week against Crivoi.

Have to say, the more I look at how they pulled it off, the more grudging admiration I have for the execution. It was a pretty stunning coup: the pre match bluff pushing Kim down to 1.1, the big "fightback" by Istomin from a set and double break down, then the triple bluff to make it appear like a classic 1-1 fix (where the players agree to go 1-1 and then fight honestly for the third set), as Kim broke and went ahead in the final set. That's just the simple summary too, there's more complications to it.

At every stage they judged it to perfection - as far as I know, it's the most elaborate fix in tennis betting history.

Thanks for the Kim-Guzman one, wasn't aware of that. Now that I look at some of his past matches, there appear to have been quite a few, although not on this scale. Kim-Brands last week in Newport looks pretty "interesting" as well.

:worship: Fixomin.

Kim's loss against Suzuki last week was pretty good as well although I am guessing that might have been legit as there wouldn't have been much money to be made in the first round of challengers.
