Jeremy's summer season.

Anyone know what events he'll play? :D Great chance to pick points up these coming months.

Hes playing Stuttgart anyway, good choice, faster then usual clay courts there.

Jim entered Stuttgart, Hamburg and Gstaad. I'm not sure whether it is appropriate to write about these events in "US Hardcourt season" thread though  ;) His first summer hardcourt tournament will bee Montreal.

Anyways, here's his Stuttgart draw:
[1] SIMON, Gilles FRA vs PETZSCHNER, Philipp GER
ZVEREV, Mischa GER vs GARCIA-LOPEZ, Guillermo ESP
GOLUBEV, Andrey KAZ vs VASSALLO ARGUELLO, Martin ARG
CHARDY, Jeremy FRA vs [8] ACASUSO, Jose ARG

[3] BERDYCH, Tomas CZE vs KIEFER, Nicolas GER
BECK, Andreas GER vs [WC] GREUL, Simon GER
[Q] KUBOT, Lukasz POL vs [Q] ANDUJAR, Pablo ESP
JUNQUEIRA, Diego ARG vs [5] KOHLSCHREIBER, Philipp GER

He also plays doubles with Paulo, they got first seeds in their first round.

I saw his match against Chucho in Madrid and it was even more a thrashing than the score suggests!

I hope he only stopped entering the doubles events with Gilles because Gilles was not sure to play because of his knee and that they will play again at least a few times - they have to win a match together!
Plus, I can't blame him if he thinks Gilles really sucks too much in doubles, but I'm not sure about his recent choices then (Gaël in London and now Paulo...)

Montreal? Damn. I was hoping to see him playing over that side more! Great draw here, should make the quarters at least.

tufani

Well, maybe he considers clay as a better option for gaining ranking points this summer. And besides, he has quarters to defend in Gstaad. Jim is facing a great opportunity to climb up in the rankings considering his last year's results in the second half of the season.

Truc

A good run on clay could be a good thing for DC too, since he clearly said it's a goal for him to be on the team in September.
Since he doesn't dislike clay, it was an expected schedule imo. They will spend enough time in the US, many of them prefer to stay in Europe, Indy and LA always have poor fields.

And another 1st round exit in doubles, I think he had only one win this year in doubles (with this Cerretani guy in Munich). :worship:

Does anyone know of anywhere we can watch the matches from Stuttgart? Have enjoyed watching this tournament in past years.

Good luck Jim.

Hopefully a link will come up on either channelsurfing or fromsport, but there probably wont be one tomorrow, he is playing on the Grandstand, which is a fancy way of saying the last court.

Jeremy confirmed for New Haven the week before the US Open, should be good practise, not a particularly strong field.

Hes playing tomorrow at 2 on court 1 or whatever its called, not centre court anyway. there might be a link from that court, ill look for one tomorrow.

PinkFeatherBoa

Tennislive.tv is working perfectly well for me, is it available only in Germany again?
You didn't miss anything, Jim is looking so unfocused. ^^

Never-ending discussion now, everybody is standing at the net and very upset, I have no idea what is going on, pretty weird match!

MVA still argueing NON STOP, Jim is really mad at him now, no idea what all the fuss is about, but it's funny! MVA totally lost the plot with his never-ending discussion, he has hardly won a point since then.

PinkFeatherBoa
07-16-2009, 02:11 PM
Ah, thanks Fran. Yes, it seems to be Germany only again. Must have changed back when they fixed the Center Court problem.

I shall just have to go and make my IP German again, now that I know it still works then.

I think they have some technical problems because my livestream isn't as smooth as it usually is, I'm not surprised they restricted it to Germany.

MVA finally, finally shut up, but he still hasn't regrouped, Jim is cruising.
It would be nice if you could both try to focus on your tennis at the same time, guys!

Jim is looking awesome with his short haircut, it looks better in video than in pics.

Jim wins 2-2 3-6 6-1! :) Got to love the lucky net cord to get the double break, seems like I joined when MVA had already lost all resistance seeing as I only saw the 3rd set.

Would have liked to have seen the arguing though, sounds interesting.

You're very welcome, Jenny! :D Glad it worked fine.

At one point in the middle of the third set I thought Jim lost his focus again, he did several simple mishits, but I guess MVA has already lost all the confidence by then.

Jeremy plays Gillou/Zverev next.

Chiakifug
07-16-2009, 08:18 PM
Zverev next.

The win today was very shaky, but he got it in the end. But would to know what that argument was about, it was pretty heated.

He is last on centre court tomorrow.

kathrinchen
07-17-2009, 12:45 AM
Apparently, the argument was about the noise coming from the VIP tent next to the court. People were having lunch and just chatting away, not giving a damn. MVA didn't seem too happy about this from the start.
The discussion really started, however, when MVA hit a double fault in the second set. He just wouldn't shut up, Jérémy went to the net and told him to get on with it. The ATP supervisor was called, but I don't think it changed much. Anyway, they continued, Jérémy got his first break and that was it.
At least that is what I could pick up from the commentary on the livestream. Hope that helps. :)

He looked solid to me, though.
Jim's game was a bit patchy, but I expected it to be even worse because it must be hard to bounce back after Stuttgart, I felt tired for him just by watching him again. Nice fight to come back in the 2nd set, really.

I can see that Jeremy is engaged in New Haven and Metz, just before and after the US Open.

I think he should play less ATP250 tournaments and concentrate more on bigger tournaments :
he plays many many ATP250 tournaments (New Haven will be his 11th one, World Team Cup excluded, Metz his 12th one  ).

On the opposite, he played only 2 ATP500 tournaments. I think he should play the final two ones in the year : these indoor ATP500 should suit his game.

All the more as if he's top-30 in the end of the year (which is very possible :yeah: ), he will have to count more ATP500 results mandatorily. And this year already, he has at least to reach the semifinal to be able to still get some ATP points in an ATP250 tournament : in an ATP500, a quarterfinal is enough.

Chardy doesn't look having a very solid physical : I think he should concentrate on bigger tournaments, now that his general level is really higher.

Hes playing Isner at the moment, and im confident of the win. He controlled the first set, easing through service games and often got to either 30 or deuce on Isners service games at 4-3, 5-4, and 6-5, even having a set point at 6-5. But then in the tiebreak he imploded, and lost it 7-1. But he started the second well and broke at 3-3, held then broke again for the set. 1-0* now in the third. Impressive mental showing from him so far.

Soooooo is Jeremy seeded for the US open now? He was number 35, and I guess Nalbandian is not going to be there, so he needed to go up two slots is that right? He has already won 90 points, so that should put him ahead of Sela and Tursunov. The only way he can be behind n°33 after this week is if Hewitt goes to the semifinals or better it looks like. Are the seedings made using next week's rankings or the week after that?

shadows
08-20-2009, 01:01 PM
^ might well be, i forgot nalby wasn't playing so was very frustrated he'd be a couple of points behind Almagro right now ><

he will be after he beats Djokovic today =p

Chiakifug
08-20-2009, 05:12 PM
The seedings are made before New Haven, so on Monday or Tuesday. He will be a seed alright, and it'll be great not to have a Roddick or Djokovic situation like at Oz and Wimbledon.

Apparently Jeremy is not even going to be seeded at the US open... He gets 90 points but loses the 45 points of his worst countable tournament. So by getting to the quarters Hewitt gets enough points to be number 33. We'll have to hope that someone else retires from the tournament.

That really sucks that he lost today .
I actually was there on Wednesday and I got to watch him.And let me tell you he’s so HOT in person :inlove:!And he was playing really well.I was cheering my ass off for him.It really felt like me against the entire crowd. They were of course cheering for Isner .The guy behind me was so obnoxious he was like having conversations with Isner during the match. At one point he yelled it sucks it’s hot but you can do it.And at first I thought he was saying Jeremy sucks.I swear I was about to jump across the seats and knock him out(Yes im a girl but I think at that point I had enough anger in me to knock him out ).And then I realized he was just saying it sucks because the weather was so hot.It was kind of awkward and sudden when Isner quit the match.I think the reason he quit was because the weather was getting to him he really looked like he was about to either puke or pass out or both.It was kind of funny seeing Isner looking like he was going to die and Jeremy looked like he didn’t feel the weather at all.Anyway I'm so so so glad got to see him live :hearts::inlove::hearts:........

Lucky you seeing him live, his game looks even better in person, I think.

Very disappointed about today's match, even whilst I didn't hold out much hope for his victory once I saw the breezy conditions. Annoying about the seeding, too. Maybe someone above him will still withdraw.

and him and Simon lost their doubles (not a surprise, of course) 6-2 6-4

Very easy draw, if Jeremy plays good then i think he should make the semi finals. He is 1-1 with Fish this year but i think he is now a better player and should beat him, and he also beat Robredo easily in Cinci. I think a semi would be a nice set up to the US Open.

Jim got Monfils in the first round. Monfils hasnt played for a while but i get the impression he'll be very unfit and lacking match practice, something Jeremy can definitly take advantage of if he plays well. « Ce n'est pas un bon jour pour moi. Même au contrôle anti-dopage, je n'y suis pas arrivé. Je n'ai pissé que 80 ml au lieu de 90 ml. Il faut que j'y retourne. »
It wasn't my day. Even for the doping test, I failed. I was able to piss 80 ml instead of the required 90, I have to do it again.

I saw he is OUT of Metz, anyone can confirm that? Is that because he is playing DC? Will he actually play then? And he could also play DC and play the weekend after in Metz, couldn't he, it is in Holland...

Truc
09-16-2009, 04:18 PM
Yes, it's true, other people with access to the ATP PlayerZone said so too.
It's certainly because of the DC, he didn't know he would play DC when he entered Metz. He can hardly gain points in those 250 events anymore, so I think it's a good move.
There's no mention of an injury in the few Maastricht reports I've read so far, on the contrary, Forget is even considering him for the doubles match.

Truc
09-16-2009, 04:22 PM
I checked his forum to see if they have more information, can't find anything about it, but I see Maryse posted the short article of L'Equipe where Forget says Jim might play in doubles too:

Truc
09-17-2009, 07:48 AM
It's a bit of a weird choice for Julien indeed, he could need the points of Metz more than Jim and will most probably just be the alternate. But I can understand Jérémy's decision, it's another surface too, maybe they prefer to take one week to adjust properly instead of rushing the transition and play poorly in front of the French crowd.

There's a nice article about Jim today in l'Equipe today, I'll open a DC thread.
