Boggo

Coming from a break down in the third, was a minibreak up in the 3rd set TB.

On a more serious note, never seen Boggo play before and I have to wonder how Dima managed to suck so bad that this was a tight match. Boggo has atrocious technique on his groundstrokes, especially the "topspin" backhand which was closer to a slice than topspin most of the time. His serve kept him alive in the match, many double faults though.

Mitya
Barely defeated Fognini, miraculously escaped a loss to Bogdanovic...

But any win is huge for Mitya nowadays.

Good decision by Boggo to tank, he can conserve energy for his charge at SW19.

That's all Brits ever seem to be able to do; close but never any bloody cigar.

On a more positive note, it was nice at least to see Boggo actually visibly trying in the last set. Should bode well for Wimbledon with a favourable (outside top 75 :tape: ) draw.

Dima needs to really pull himself together for the match against Istomin; very up and down performance today.

Saw the last couple of games and Dima was atrocious. :help: Boggo wasn't bad, but he wasn't really doing a great deal with the ball (apart from the odd occasion when he let rip...and THAT was good!), and if Dima were his usual self, he'd have been putting Boggo's loopy shots away. Pretty crap that Boggo couldn't finish it in the end...these are the matches that he really needs to win, but unfortunately he seems to have the habit of grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. Which is the reason why he will always struggle to do himself justice in the biggest matches (Slams, Davis Cup etc).

Tursunov will have to improve if he is to do anything minorly significant over the next few weeks.

Boggo does have a fair bit of talent, when i watched him against Melzer and Peya last year he was really good for the first set and a half then just tanked. If he'd won today it maybe could have given him that extra confidence to win a match at Wimbledon, he might still do so.

Count Boggo is slowly recovering his GOAT form.
