After Haas got up to 3-0, Nole didn't do anything, barely tried to stay there, just no tactics at all and bad bad movement on grass, Haas wanted it much more it seemed.. Congrats Tommy:) Nole, please improve, you were sooo much better on clay:o

Only saw the last few points in TB and the 3rd set.

Another pathetic performance by Novak but not surprising as he played like crap most of the time this week. Only his first serve saved him but even his first serve was not there today.

Great performance by Haas. I only saw a little bit of his first match, yesterday vs Kohli and today but he's brilliant (most of the time) in those matches.

Great to see Tommy playing so good again. Novak barely got a chance, and when he finally did, Haas turned it up again and denied whatever hope was left.:worship: Unbelievably good on serve, Tommy, and a total crap serving affair for Novak.:smash:
Novak can't seem to find his movement on grass, then his timing is affected, then his confidence starts slipping..

Very nice from both of them in the speeches, I liked Novak's honesty: 'I don't think it was tight at all, I was lucky to get the 2nd set' (true), and the way he thanked everyone in German.:) Tommy was so funny with that bear, he kept wanting him to leave: 'Ok, fertig jetzt. Tschuss.'

Grass is not a problem, when Novak's game is on he can play excellent tennis on any surface. This is a guy who played Wimbledon semifinal,a guy who played match which could go either way against peak Nadal at Queens last year.So surface is not a problem.
He is just not playing his tennis,he is too pasive, just pushing a ball most of the time, and standing 2 meters behind the baseline, that's the way Murray plays not him.He needs to be more aggressive,go for more winners,he needs to be mentally into the match, and try not to lose focus so easy.

Well...Nole...look ahead to USO-series:o:sad:
What's wrong? At least, he was once a semi-finalist at Wimby(ended in bad style,I know)And he was competitive at Queen's against Nadal last year. I don't think he is that bad on grass. Was he too disappointed after Madrid'loss? Or simply grass is just his worst surface and he has too much to improve?(then, how can him make Queen's 2008 so close?)

Anyway, credits to Hass.

It seems like Murray's No.3 will be solid for a period, but, you never know.
Like it or not, Murray, still, only for once, got past QF at any slam, as who was the favorite going into AO 09. But, having said that, YES, I will put Murray's chance only behind Roger this coming Wimby.

rocketassist
06-14-2009, 04:56 PM
The problem with Djokovic is his weaknesses are exposed on grass in a way no other surface does.

He doesn't have the time to get into a hitting rhythm because of the speed of the points and court, and his return of serve is pretty mediocre on grass, Safin last year got loads of free points on the 2nd serve cause he couldn't put a ball back in court.

Wimbledon is still slower which gives him a chance of making the last eight and he avoided attacking players with strong serves last time, but if he gets someone on a good serving day, he's in for a big time struggle.

I don't know what happened to Nole's movement on grass. He used to be pretty decent but he was atrocious today. His 1st serve also deserted him on some big points. Hope losing to Nadal frequently hasn't changed his game permanently - he seems to be a lot more passive nowadays.

Haas is playing really well and should have finished the match in two but in typical Haas style had 3 DFs in the TB. Seems like his serving is here to stay. It was unreal against Fed and it was quite good today as well. If he gets to play in Wimbly, he could do some damage on his serve alone.

Too true,I remember one fakervic fan vucina I believe (could be wrong) attacking I_mac saying that she doesn't have a good man in her life that's why she is fixed on fakervic so much.:o or something along those lines,it's really sad, that sometend to go down that route.
On a different note I have to give credit where credit is due.Nadal has beaten fed several times at slam level yet he respect federer even though he beat federer, even his team respects fed calling him the best (if its how they actually feel is debatable but it for another time.Fakervic beat fed once his mom says "the king is dead" classy:mad:.
Nadal beat' fed at the FO 08,says fed will recover.
After the FO 08 fakervic fed is vulnerable, before i taught he could break the GS record but now with my arrival & others I'am not so sure.
I think its no coincidence the person, family, supporter react in a similar way, even his fans at the AO was disruptive fighting with another fan base in the streets I believe. However he has many good fans I admit,I guess its the same with any fan base a few give them a "bad"name. eg fed fool2007,theretardedRAFA but even these trolls don't get so personal,I could be wrong.

I think this win puts Haas as a top contender for Wimbledon, behind Federer, alongside Nadal (depending on his form) , Murray and Roddick.

Will be interesting to watch.

Haas is one of those players whose career merits one Grand slam, even though I have some doubts Haas will go past the quarters in Wimbledon, there is a chance.

Oh, lighten up a little, I know what he's saying about, but I thought when you make the point it has to have some weight, right?

Anyway, GuGu hates Fakervic more than Nadull as I could see.

Depends, it's cyclic.

I wouldn't put Haas alongside Nadal, Federer and Murray but it would be really good if he could summon up a good showing and I wouldn't be surprised if he put toghether a quarter final, he won't have many more opportunities.

I missed the match , but judging by the score and the comments in here it looks like a more then deserved victory. Maybe Haas was lucky to survive Kohli in the SF, but Djokovic was even more luckier against Serra all in all Tommy showed much more than Novak this week. Too bad I haven't read much about their tactics and game-plans, all I read so far is that Djokovic played passively and Tommy served well?

Just watch the post match ceremony little interview with Nole..Who even said,it wasn't tight match at all, because Tommy deserved a win.. With what I personally wouldn't agree,it was tight here and there, but Nole showed nice personality once again ;)

I have to admit that Djokovic had several fantastic passing shots, but Tommy was very mentally strong whenever Novak had the break point. Simply, Haas played almost perfect.

seen this. unusually consistent haas till the end and another pussy play from djoker. he just couldnt keep it up and led tommy into the match during firs couple of games. he was slicing like a mad man and played great in the semis, but day later was another man. there was little doubt about the outcome. smash is becoming quite a choke-point ever since Olympics, and once he starts hitting drop shots against BP, you know shit has gone pass the drain.

Federer 'almost' lost to Ljubicic about seven times when he was n.3, interesting that he never actually lost.

He knows he's gonna win against these type of players so he's just playing with them, putting on a little show for the crowd.

Glad that I was able to be in the stadium live to see Tommy's victory. Excellent performance by him. He became the 2nd German player since Michael Stich to win tournaments on all surfaces.

It was a really interesting week of tennis in Halle and you didn't knew who would end up to win the tournament.

I'm not a fan of Djokovic and some of his antics on the court, but I have to give him credit for his fair behaviour in applauding good winners of his opponent - he did it more than any other player through the week - and for his open words after his defeat. He didn't sugarcoat anything. Although he reached the final he can't be contented with the way he played in the tournament, but as he stated in his pressconference his match against Nadal in Madrid is still on his mind.

I hope for Tommy he will stay healthy and gets a good draw in Wimbledon, then we will see if he can keep up his current level of play.
