Can Andy Murray Win Wimbledon And Become No. 1 In the World?

What do you think? He will have his first grass title this week and will likely continue his winning streak for the next few weeks.

Can he win Wimbledon and become No. 1?

I hope Murray wins and Federer is runner up. When Sue Barker interviews Fed he will most likely burst into tears again in an effort to take all the glory away from the winner
instead of putting his arms around him like Nadal in Aus09 final, Murray gives Fed a slap for crying like a baby. Perfect Wimby 2009.

Its relatively easy for Murray to win a grasscourt title when he doesn't have to beat Nadal or Federer, its a whole different ball game so we won't know what Murray's chances are at Wimbledon until he plays the top2:o

He will win Wimbledon at some point and he's got a good shot at it already this year as neither Nadal nor Federer looks to be in peak form (Federer won RG without playing his best tennis).

He could very well become #1 at some point, but certainly not this year. Federer and Nadal are too consistent for that.

I cant see him performing consistently in wimbly, he will most likely fall before the semis.. just a feeling.

He can win Wimbledon of course, but will he probably not this year.

Obviously he is playing the best he ever has coming into the event and has won the biggest lead up to Wimbledon.

Of the top players his biggest threat is obviously Federer this year especially with Nadal under an injury cloud. He's going to be seeded 3 and if he draws Nadal in the SF this is the best chance he is going to get to make the final but I don't see him beating Federer if they meet in the F.

Djokovic is slumping and his FH doesn't translate to grass.
He has wins over Roddick on grass and returns well which makes him comfortably a favorite.
Del Potro will likely struggle with the slice of Murray if they were to meet.
Simon is not even worth mentioning on non hardcourt tournaments.
Tsonga could be a banana peel if on.
Monfils is injured one minute and then making slam QF then injured again.

Bar some random player really taking him out in early rounds. (He struggles with Tipsy) Soderling is in the form of his life and there are a few grass court specialists out there.

Don't see him winning it this year. Federer has too many weapons on grass and Murray's second serve is simply not enough on the biggest moments.

He's too much fail in Grand Slams. I don't think he realizes yet that Grand Slams are where you get most of your points at...

Disagree.......
1. Nadal says that no. 1 ranking coms and go but Wimbledon crown stays forever (or something in that regard).

2. You do not become no. 1 by betting only on slams, and Murray has learned to build his ranking up surpassing Djokovic once Djokovic's slams points fell off.

3. There is a reason that he is hailed as the favourite to beat Federer in the final....even though he doesnt do well, at least he knows to be visible when the important tasks come up, not to mention about beating enough people to build up a record. If anything, as a no. 1 I say he may be more invicisible than Federer (and more devilish in a certain way).
