Our youngster Patrik Brydolf will play an 15000$ Future in Belarus,(Minsk), i guess he must qualify first. And then we have Anders Lindström will play in Greece and soo on.

DANIEL BERTA 2010

After an amazing 2009 is the time for Sweden's greatest tennis promise, Daniel Berta, to leap out of the Senior Tour. "We aim to be among the 500 best in the world at the end of the year," says 17-year old coach Julius Demburg to eurosport.se.

Daniel Berta can look back on a successful and very rich events 2009th 17-year-old won the junior title in Paris and will finish the year as world number one junior side. He was also taken out to the Davis Cup team, took his first ATP points and had to play their first matches on the ATP Tour.

Now it is thought that 17-year-old to establish himself on the tour. The 2010 season will concentrate on the Senior Tour.

- We will work hard with the physics and play about 20 tournaments. We aim to reach the top 500 but not more than that. 2011, we hope that he can play on the tour and take advantage of the wildcards he gets, "says Bert coach Julius Demburg to eurosport.se.

But next year is still not the season when the big breakthrough will come. 2010 will be instead a year that will make Daniel Berta ready for the regular games.

- It's coming now is not the highest priority to climb. We view this as a preparation for his first seniors so that he physically can be more prepared. He is, after all, born in November so he is almost 93 a. We have a long term plan, "says Demburg.

What he has to improve physically?
- Physically, he must become more mobile. It is not about being faster but more mobile in all the muscles so that he becomes functional and can receive a workout without breaking. Fair play in terms of hanging with him really well but it will be matches on the Challenge Tour, for example, it's important to have physics that are required. We have therefore initiated a collaboration with Robin Söderlings physical coach.

Some games on the junior tour, it will be, after all, and the first stop is the Australian Open in late January.

- We will put into play all the Grand Slam. It's very good games to play. He has only won one and I think it's good for him. I think the environment during the second week is good because the 16 best players in the singles tournament is left. You get a chance to play a bit with them.

Dec 22, 2009, from tennis.se (Swedish Tennis Association)

Swedish world champion

Daniel Berta was announced ”Junior World Champion” today. Three swedes before him has made that same achievement!

International Tennis Foundation (ITF) announced the 22nd of December 2009 this year's best tennis players and we find one swede among the Junior no 1's, Daniel Berta. He ends this year as No 1 at ITF:s junior world ranking and thus can use the title Junior World Champion. And he's in good company as well. World Champion for Ladies and Mens respectively is for example Serena Williams and Roger Federer. Berta and the rest will receive their awards at the World Champion-dinner the 1st of June 2010.

Daniel Berta is the 3rd swede following Stefan Edberg (1983), Nicklas Kulti (1989) and Thomas Enqvist (1991) to be named Junior World Champion. The result was final after the last Junior Tournament, Orange Bowl.

The highlight for Daniel was of course the win in the Junior Singles at Roland Garros. It was Swedens first Grand Slam-victory in Junior class since 1996 when Björn Rehnqvist won in Australian Open, and the first swedish victory in Paris Junior singles in 25 years (Kent Carlsson 1984).

- To end the year as No 1 is like a dream to me and I will look back at this year as my best tennis year! After winning the title at Roland Garros I started to believe for real that I could reach the No 1 spot and I have been working really hard every day to reach that goal. Now that I'm there I am happy and proud to be the Junior World Champion. It means a lot to me and gives me motivation to work even harder for 2010, says Daniel Berta.

As No 1 he will ge the opportunity to enter 3 futures directly, but we can also assume that he will be given a few Wild Cards on the pro-tour as well!

2010 is meant to be a "training-year" for Daniel Berta. He is planning to play in the four big Grand Slam Juniors and participate/defend the European Champion title in Junior Team Championship. And of course, try to climb at the ATP-ranking.

Daniel Berta is also nominated at the Swedish Sport Awards 2010 in the category for "Newcomer of the Year". Another tennis player is also nominated for Best Athlete Performance of the Year - Robin Söderling (for winning against "unbeatable" Nadal at Roland Garros, winning in Båstad, reaching semifinal in ATP Finals and after several QF's as well as SF's ending as World No 8!)

misty1

because he hasnt played any matches before now since febuary?

he's only 17, i think it's to soon to say he'll never go anywhere

he apparently is not focused on ranking at the moment, more working on his physical conditioning and endurance

lets see what he does next year when the work for a ranking will apparently be his focus. If he does nothing over next year and 2012 then we can safely say he will go nowhere.

Sorry about the delay, tt was a long dinner. The article I thought of was with swedish eurosport (http://www.eurosport.se/tennis/berta-plagas-av-skador_sto2400180/story.shtml) but he didn't do the interview with them (it was with a smaller newspaper). I can't find the original at the moment but the one with eurosport isn't that happy. If you have any problem translating it (I think of google) just ask about it. My english isn't good enough to translate a whole article but I think I could manage a sentence or two :p

Winning four consecutive matches against opponents in the 400-1000 range is a big step in the right direction! Hopefully he can start playing regularly in futures and qualify to challengers here and there now :)

I read an interview in my local newspaper about Daniel a couple of weeks ago btw, he looked pretty bright on the future and is injury free now. I think he'll play a lot this autumn but most importantly get some consistency in playing.

His next tournament will be a $15.000 future in Danderyd, Sweden next week.

Actually, Berta is in the main draw (http://www2.tennis.se/tavling/international/2010/m_swe_f1_2010/draw1.html). Too lazy to check, but I guess enough people in DE pulled out, allowing Berta to get in directly. He faces #878 Stefan Borg in the first round, then possibly 8th seed Patrik Brydolf in the second round. It's a pretty good draw as far as which seed he'll possibly meet in the Round of 16.

829 now. It really depends on what futures, but it's a good start.

Some of those career futures players are globe trotters/ranking whores that pick fields with easy ranking points and they're basically traveling to places you didn't even know exist. If you want to play you can.

daniel is in action in a futures event in nigeria next week

looking at the entry list he has a chance to do really well here aslong as he doesnt run into the toip 4 to early

: raven klaasen, amir weintraub, neils dessen and laurent rochette

...although why in the hell guys ranked # 203 or 275 are playing a futures event is beyond me

Chris-swede
10-13-2010, 06:15 PM
it is a 15k+H Tournament!!! Winner gets 35 points! Finalist 20 and semfinalists 10 points at least!

In a 35k+H Challenger (worst challengers) you need to be a finalist to get 48 points, for semis only 29, and quarters only 15 points.
Nex week in europa is only Orleans, 125k+H, too high for many players between 200 and 300. Thats the reason.

misty1
10-15-2010, 01:10 PM

daniel's draw:

R1: alexei filenkov - rank 1419, he's 29 years old and his highest has been 780 so i would expect daniel to win this.

R2: either bolaji olawepo( rank 1421 ) or the # 6 seeded muragesan virali-ranjeet who's ranked 524 and been as high as 416. He is seeded but i believe daniel has a chance here if he's playing well

QF: probably # 1 seeded Niels Desein. He'd lose that one but he's got a draw here to atleast reach the QF.

He´s only there because his girlfriend plays an ITF 25,000 dollar event in Lagos aswell, he should play without her by his side..Good luck next week Berta!

Berta plays a qualifier in his first round in Nigeria F2, then likely 7th seed Boy Westerhof of the Netherlands.

well he won the first round 6-2, 6-2

we;ll see what he can do next

he's moved up 8 places to # 831 in the rankings

the guy has been as high as 282 in the rankings so im not expecting much but it would be great if daniel could prove me wrong

Berta keeps winning his first round matches, then losing to a seeded player in the next round. I wonder if it's a confidence thing rather than a skill thing. I don't remember Berta ever beating a seeded player, not recently anyway...

i would have though qualifying for and winning a challenger match then making atleast 1 set against a player in the top 100 competitive would give him loads of confidence.

hopefully he pulls the upset and goes deep here

Daniel's club starts with league matches(They're in the Swedish tier2) next weekend, wouldn't surprise to see him play there even if I can't find anything about it. Daniel is the best player of the pack however. Try this link http://seriespel.tennis.se/division.php?dID=2966 and click the match of "Upsala TK", players for the teams should be there later along with results. I live in Uppsala so I guess I'll pass along anything if I see it in the local paper.

Upsala TK was a 1st tier team for 1 year even...but lost all 7 games they played...but do not know when it was...must be in the past!
Berta can win his games here..but this team is not the 1st choice to promote but they have chances, depending on Hedman+Flygt to play often. Too strong opposition! But 1st game should be easy to win...2nd game maybe also...
Danderyds TK has 2 very good ex.college-players up in front
Malarhojdens TK plays with Robin Brage up in front
Södertälje plays with Pimpim Johansson! Hope for a Berta vs Pimpim match...:) Björkmans coach Yerko Müller is also there!
