Heading to grass court season 2009...

After an awful first half of the year, Robby is heading to London, where he will start his grass court campaign.
So he plays 4 tournaments on grass this year: Queens, Eastbourne, Wimbledon and finally Newport.
Hope he can do well and stay healthy or he will be out of top 100 in no-time.
Good luck Robby

Oh joy  And you might know I'm also a fan of Murray's. And according to rege Robby is going to be out of the Top 100--see her post in the ranking thread

Of course he will be, he made the 4th round at RG last year and has done absolutely nothing, those were really the only points he had.

Was leading 7-5 6-6(*4-2) and of course choked to lose 7-5 6-7(4) 3-6.

Why oh why is Robby doing this now? He didn't choke back when he was #15 in the World. I guess we will never know  I keep thinking something must have happened that underminded his confidence and he started losing. And then, of course, losing would further underdermind his confidence and the cycle just keeps repeating itself. But what started the cycle in the first place I really just don't know

He was out of the game for a while and probably couldn't even practice much while he was recovering - it takes time to rebuild the confidence to put away the matches and play the big points well

It'a Santoro. I hope Santoro won't do any of his "magic" on Robby, but Santoro can still play there's no doubt about that.

Fabrice is a very bad match-up for Robby, as well as he is pretty good on grass.

How right we both were about Santoro's ability--ring up yet another loss for Robby

Well as soon as I saw the draw I knew Robby had no chance of going anywhere at Wimbledon  And on top of the loss the trainer was attending to Robby  Robby looks physically strong, but he seems to always have some nagging injury. It looked like this one was in the shoulder/neck area. I had to have the sound down as others in my family were still sleeping so I couldn't hear what was being said about the injury.

The announcers (on DirecTV's extra Wimbledon channels) didn't seem to know what was going on, so you didn't miss much. I didn't see the entire match but they were saying that Robby had been acting as though his back was bothering him. Before he called the trainer, he'd sometimes bend forward and looked like he was trying to stretch his back out a bit between points... let his body weight fall forward, his arms hanging loosely. He certainly was wincing when the trainer was manipulating his neck & shoulder/upper back.

Yes the wincing I clearly saw. As I said always nagging injuries no matter exactly where they are located
I think Robby should try Yoga or something like that where the concentration is on stretching the muscles rather than building up muscles. Robby seems plenty strong, but I don't think he is very limber. His body needs to be more flexible I think to try to avoid some of those injuries IMO.

Robby to play Newport.
R1 vs Ventura
Go Robby

Wow, that was scary... 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. The statistics suggest that Robby's serve went completely off the mark in the second set... low 1st serve percentage, low percent of 1st or 2nd serves won, etc.

He's playing another American in the next round... Brendan Evans, who beat Benjamin Becker today.

Well I forgot to keep checking on this Tournament so I don't know what Round Robby was defeated in, but he was obviously defeated

They kept suspending play due to rain, so Robby played his 2nd round match on (I think) Thursday morning. The winner of that match had to play another match later that afternoon to catch up.
