1st Round is Andrei Pavel ...
However he did beat Tommy in Paris before, but I just can't see that happen now.

Auf Geht's Tommy ! :music:

lol, Pavel still playing? Just checked, he's the world no. 1124. Did he get a WC? Anyway, don't think either that this loss seven years ago means anything today. As for Blake ... they never met on clay before, and with Blake you never know these days. One final on clay recently on one hand, but on the other, that was pretty much it this year.
Good first round, overall not the most easiest draw of all, but that would be boring anyway. ;) Looking foward to it ...

yup,at least he'll have more bonus on his preparations...After the exo match he said that he is not 100% fit,and who would be after 3 surgeries, something like that...yet again he said apart from it he's feeling great and it seems he is looking forward to play again in FO...Well,we'll see,I am optimistic as always ,this could be his chance to upset someone on his way, when there's really nothing to lose. auf geht's.

I think he was lucky with the draw. Of course, it's not easy and you never know with Tommy and the form he's in but he definitely has a chance here to win a couple of matches.
Looking forward to tomorrow :D

Court 6 has stream,right?

Theoretically, it has cameras. I was watching mostly on Tennis Channel so far, and they alternate between 6 and 7, but even if they chose 6, the match might be too late to have live coverage and appear only in he archive tomorrow. Not sure about other sources, but I've been able to find only the main courts.

thefly
05-25-2009, 06:18 PM
Well, court 6 is currently on right here (http://www.atdhe.net/7085/watch-grand-slam-roland-garros), so I guess we only have to hope that one or the other ES channel will show Tommy's match. In that case it will certainly pop up online ...

EDIT

At least there's not a lot else going on at that time tomorrow, except maybe Blake, so I'm confident that German ES will show it. Also, the stupid Giro may already be over by then ...

You know, like in the good old "Red" Amy times, when Tommy's annoyed by God only knows what, and Red keeps talking to him, and Tommy shots him that wild dog's look, mumbles somthing in his directing, all that meaning something like "shut the hell up" ... like that. ;)

Ah, I managed to watch parts of the third and fourth set in university, had to go before the fourth was finished. Man, I was restless in this final lecture of mine, and not really confident. I was all the more happy when I found out how things turned out afterwards. :) Some great tennis by Tommy. He should have won that in three, and a loss in five would of course have been fatally unfortunate (although this Mayer was pretty strong - could be one of those cases where some guy hits the ball like he usually doesn't for a while, but he may be someone to look out for) but to go on and win this in five is a whole different matter, and can be a lot more worth mentally than a win in three. So ... yay! ;)

Going to watch the re-live know. And for those you could not watch it ... I can't make promises right now, but maybe I can do something about that, stay tuned ... :)

As for Chardy, that last match vs. him was on hard court, right? Completely different animal here, I think, so I'm looking forward to it and am confident.

But as he is Frech it's going to be on a big court for sure, so that's the good thing!

Puuh, I'm glad he did it in 5. Nice reaction after the matchpoint. Chardy is very dangerous, I would have preferred Bolelli because he had to go over 5 sets in both matches.
Well, but the match should be on a great court, maybe Lenglen or No.1...

My tip is Lenglen, but we'll see,at least it must be some descent court, where more his fans should come ;)

Working on it.

Really looking foward to the next round. Tommy's playing some great tennis, although he often doesn't seem competely focused, but I can forgive him that in Paris. He himself stated that he's only playing because we feels good right now.
Be that as it may, I get the impression that Tommy is getting back on track. Compared to earlier this year, his strokes seem to have more confidence, there's less insecurity in his game. So I hope his health enters a kind of "status quo" now so that Tommy can play regularly the next months, and if that's the case, I'll expect some great tennis and good results come hard court season.

Concerning the ongoing FO ... I'm pretty much already happy with the third round; but I'd love to see Tommy win this one too just to get this match vs. Roger. At that point, I'm sure Tommy would have come way more far than he expected (if he did expect anything at all), and him playing Roger wihtout any pressure, just for the fun of it ... that could turn out to be pretty exciting. :)

But first things first. Speaking of which, I actually prefer Chardy over Bolelli. If I remeber correctly Chardy feels a little more comfortable on HC, and I've seen some good stuff from Bolleli on clay in the past, and was suprised by the result between the two. But I guess all that doesn't really matter ...

Oh, I don't think Chardy is a better option than Bolelli at all in any sense. For starters he can return, has far more variety and is less erratic. (Chardy played 4th round here last year IIRC) But IMO this is a more exciting matchup, besides it's a chance for revenge ;)

Well, who gets the French ... I can understand most of the other matches they put on the two big courts, but Garbin vs. Razzano or Kuznetsova vs. Czink ...? *scratcheshead*
Whatever. At least Jankovic and Djoko and Kohlschreiber have to hit the same court. :p

EDIT

Oh, I don't think Chardy is a better option than Bolelli at all in any sense. For starters he can return, has far more variety and is less erratic. (Chardy played 4th round here last year IIRC) But IMO this is a more exciting matchup, besides it's a chance for revenge ;)

Well, his best result on clay was the semi in Munich. Pretty good, but that was it. weeks before he lost in the second round of Houston to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 1-6, 0-6.
Granted, Bolelli didn't really have a very good year so far. But as I said, I've seen him in the past, and he can be pretty dangerous. After all, he beat Berdych in the first round here, also Soderling and Tipsarevic before that, both players who are pretty hot right now.
But let's forget about that, doesn't indeed matter at all, sorry for getting back to that again. Guess that's a matter of perspective, aynway. :)

My prediction was court 1 and that's ok for me. Too many competition in men's singles, especially with Tsonga and Monfils + Gicquel vs. Roddick.

Well, Chardy the favorite tomorrow but Tommy has nothing to lose. So let's see. I hope we can see it on ES.

I agree to the fitness and heatlh part, he just looks good. But apart from that, and the little weak phases here and there, that was near perfect from Tommy. Chardy strated out strong, but Tommy could go with the speed and the power and didn't shy away from Chardy's forehand, and in the end it was the way Tommy mixed his game, especially with his slice, that made him take Chardy's game completely apart and reveal how limited a player this guy really is. Add a for most of the time incredibly strong serve and the right focus and spirit, and you get pure tennis brilliance.

Tommy has always been a great tennis player and I have watched him for many years now. Some people here get the wrong idea just because I say things like "Tommy doesn't look good". It's not meant as a negative nor a put
down of Tommy it's just that after all these years I know how Tommy looks, acts, and plays when things are going well for him. And I'm sorry, but earlier this year it was just a statement of fact that things weren't going well for Tommy. He even said so himself--even mention retiring. And I was very concerned that he couldn't get back to the way he had played before the last shoulder surgery and the elbow problem. And I think Tommy was even wondering about that earlier this year himself. And then to see him play like he did this morning was just wonderful :worship:  He seemed to be loving every minute of it and that is how I like to see Tommy on court :D

Hell yeah!!! That was awsome!
Order has restored for Tommy, now he really proved where he belong+ A little revenge :)
what a scare he gave in the 3rd and in the 4th set being down 1:3 after breaking in the 1st game, however, the comeback in the 4th set was great, especially the part where he went to win 15 from 16 points.
At the end I screamed  Luckily no one else was home.
Good luck against Roger.. Take him down
And once again, what a lovely reaction after winning, showing some emotions, but still so classy
OMG! What a game! We are in top 16!!! Roger, here we come! :woohoo:
Come on! :rocker2:
It's all because he turned back to the cap ;) I haven't been able to see him in a while, so I was pleasantly surprised

agree x2

and,, does anyone has this match? (don't mind if it's withouht the 3rd set ;) )

Ok, I'm Tommy_Nut ... :p

The cool thing is, Tommy in a way has now already "defended" Wimby, so considerably less pressure there. Sure, would still hurt losing these points, but not as much anymore. And he will be in a good position to enter the hard court events later this year.

But I'm almost positive now that he's going to skip Eastbourne. I'm sure he didn't expect to reach the 2nd week here, and it may be a little too much now to play all the way through to Wimby. If he does, though, he must be feeling really good. ;)

Now let's wait for Roger. Hope he doesn't srew this up now. :p I'm almost sorry for the rightfully beloved Swiss maestro ... ;)

I really can't wait for this match, both are classy players with beautiful tennis.
If Tommy plays well he might have a chance ofcourse, Federer didn't seem to be that convincing against Acasuso.

Tommy_Nut  I like it :)
When is Eastborne? If it's next week, right after RG wins, I think skipping it will be a really smart move. Tommy will play Roger on Monday, and matches on clay tends to be pretty long, if he loses it'll gave him a week rest, and since Tommy's heath is always in doubt, and he;s not getting younger, a week off can't hurt. He'll play Halle though, right?

If I'm not mistaken, Halle is first the week after next, and I can't imagine him skipping that one. Eastbourne comes after that, and then Wimby.

Unbelievable stuff, the clay legend in the 2nd week of Roland Garros. :worship:

And what a great match today. Tommy's serve was incredible...he had some problems at the end but this is best of five tennis.;) I read he has finally found a new physio, I think it's really important for him.

Yep, pretty good, although Djokovic really wasn't his self today. No offence to Kohli, I don't say he wouldn't have a chance against a Djoko at his best, but in straight sets? Nah ...

But it's all about Tommy here now, can't wait till Monday!

I saw only the 3rd set and the highlights they showed in Game, Set and Mats and Kohli was playing so well. I agree with you that if Djokovic was at his best (let's say, like in Madrid or the other clay tournies this year) Kohli's chances would have gotten slimmer, and he'd never win in 3, but he has such a great talent, and when it all comes together for him, it's such a pleasure to watch.

Tommy vs Roger.. Should be awesome.. Can't wait for monday, will have to watch it from work though

I watched Kohli's match,of course Nole wasn't himself today, but as a matter of fact I think that there's no doubt Phil outclassed him! His backhand was so powerful and consistent! So what a great win for Kohli that was! ;)

Well,Roger seems to be a little dizzy and sloppy at times,I guess we can expect good fight from Tommy, and at least 1 set,or more...And possible upset of course :D

Germans Kohlschreiber, Haas reach fourth round at French Open :worship:
PARIS — Two German men have reached the fourth round at the French Open for the first time since 1996, and Philipp Kohlschreiber got there by pulling off the biggest upset of the tournament thus far.

The 29th-seeded Kohlschreiber managed to eliminate two-time French Open semifinalist Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 Saturday to join Tommy Haas in the round of 16. Haas beat Jeremy Chardy of France 7-5, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

"Maybe Tommy and me, we did a good a good job here, so maybe it's more expectation or more persons looking at tennis," Kohlschreiber said of the fans in Germany, who have been waiting for a men's Grand Slam singles champion since Boris Becker won the Australian Open in 1996.

The last two Germans to make it this far at Roland Garros were Bernd Karbacher and Michael Stich.

Against Djokovic on Saturday, Kohlschreiber could do little wrong.

"I think I played really one of the best matches I've ever played in a big tournament," said Kohlschreiber, who had never even made the third round at the French Open. "I didn't play my best the last few years here."

He impressed Djokovic this time, though.

"You have to give him credit for playing tactically really smart and really good," Djokovic said. "Unfortunately, I had no solutions."

Kohlschreiber won five games in a row to win the first set, and also won five straight to take a 5-1 lead in the second.

"I was a lot of times controlling or dictating many, many points," Kohlschreiber said. "Every choice I did today, also every big point, it was going on my side."
