There's no rain here. I'm leaving in about 30 minutes so I can see Levy play. I have no idea why nothing's updated.

it's crazy. levy-ginepri was after elseneer-saulnier, so that match should be finished.

atp-tennis says : els-saul 3-6 2-1*
washington-site says : no live-score but also, no result?!?!

anyone?

Yoav

yes ok, maybe the scoreboard is broken.
But if ginepri and levy are playing, that means els-saul are finished!!
scoreboard working or not, that doesn't change a thing

I got back from the Legg Mason a few mintues. I saw most of the Ginepri-Levy match. I had never seen Levy play live, and he has what I would call a classic game. His best shot is a gorgeous, single-handed BH, and he has very nice variety of pace and shots. He overdid the drop shot tonight, but I give him full credit for varying his shots and trying to surprise Ginepri, which worked during the first set. He's willing to go to net, and people got excited when he actually chipped and charged a few times! While Ginepri won, for a lot of the match, I thought that Levy was the better player. I believe he got to the SF of Toronto/Montreal a few years ago (before his hip surgery put him out of commission), and I can see why. As for Ginepri, he definitely is a hard hitter!

Lleyton's match against Falla was weird. Falla had some nice clear winners, but to be honest, Lleyton's worst opponent tonight was his erratic serving. On the other hand, he was very aggressive and self-confident on his return games. He made a couple of truly beautiful shots that had the crowd going "aaahhhh." If he had gotten his first serve percentage up to the 60s, he would have won 1 and 2, I think, but he gave Falla a lot of freebies on his own serve.

There were some very vocal Columbians in the crowd, and in the beginning, they were cheering Lletyon's service faults, until the chair umpire shut them up. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Right after the match, Lleyton participated in an on-court US Airways serving contest, and he was very funny and relaxed with the contestants. The guy who was running it made Lleyton "team" with one of the girls and serve with her because she did not play tennis, and it was very funny, because you could tell Lleyton was embarrassed because the guy essentially tried to make Lleyton serve with the girl between his arms. But he was a very good sport about it, and the crowd loved it. His father was in the stands laughing his head off at Lleyton during this.

After none of the contestants won (they had to hit targets on the court), they let Lleyton serve on their behalf and he won them each a free trip on the US Airways shuttle. The crowd was quite enthusiastic, and you could tell that Lleyton was actually enjoying himself. He's just such a different person once the match is over.

Also, at the end of the contest, the announcer made a point of thanking Lleyton for doing a two-hour Special Olympics clinic on Sunday. Nice to see him appreciated like that.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a good night of tennis there. I like Harel, I met him a few years ago in Los Angeles and just spoke to him again in Indian Wells this year. He seems like a very decent guy, but I've never seen him play. After reading your description, I hope I see him next year somewhere.
