Richard better keep focused in, or he Gulbis finds his game and Richard is in big trouble.

I agree, even I was , and that does not happen often, but with hindsight I think he tanked, took that physio break and he was a different player again. I am still sorry, that I could not see the Tsonga-match though, even Richard's detractors said that he played well.

Oh I'm so glad he won, he played miles better whenvever I stopped watching or following that scoreboard!
I noticed him coughing a lot today against Jo, has that ever been bought up in PC or interviews of late, like when the press ask a player if they were feeling comfortable out there etc.. If he does have allergies I hope his team are taking care of them as that will seriously affect his breathing and fitness. I think we should take over as his new team!

I don't believe Richie smokes either, it is most probably an allergy cough (I often get them myself). They can be quite irritable and 'out of the blue', often they just happen.

So pleased he managed to grit out the win, good to get the average tennis out of the way early in the tournament. Tomorrow he can get back to the better stuff against Nando. Bravo Rich, good handling of a busy tennis day.

I didn't think he looked that tired, mentally knackered perhaps and totaly pissed at the second set but physically not bad. Although I still wonder why he can't even come close to getting some of those drop shots - it's like he doesn't even react. Sometimes I swear I can see it coming and could have gotten to some he lets go.

Tomorrow he has nothing to loose "fur shure" so let it rip RIchie and stop drifting back behind the baseline (which is beginning to worry me)... think grass, Richie.

think the same especially when he hit with the backhand a little bit short, I can see verdasco punish him very strongly on that side with his big forehand.
But to his credit in the match against gulbis,he was far behind but tried to come back more near the baseline to hit it deep.
2 matchs played,2 wins in one day, that's positive especially after his awful loss at barcelona.
Now he has to play a more "inspired" tennis against verdasco.

Well if every point is like that first one, Richie won't last 3 games. Good opening game - he held and won it on a forehand winner. Good luck Richie, I actually have to do some work in my office right now so will just be peeking at it when I can, unless I work REALLY fast.

Cheer him on guys...

they've just said Richie hits his forehand really well usually. Erm I wish.

They also said his favourite surface is clay. I would imagine it's grass

mine just said verdasco is ranked 5th in the world.

Ok it's just the beginnin, but last time i saw Richard playing so well on clay was first half of his match against Ferrero in MC two years ago i think. His forehand is quite flat and effective. I hope his physic and his brain will stay ok.

I noticed him rubbing it after about the second game.

He just needs a new body if that's his problem but you know RIchie if ya didn't have to hit it with all your might cuz you are 5 miles behind the baseline someimes ya might not stress out your arm so bad.

COme on RIchie just stay somewhere near the baseline and let it rip...
